The only problem is not all the cars are officially listed as Write offs.
And thats another story all together.
Mister X lists a mini he left for dead in a paddock.
Its not reported to police or rego as written off.
Mister Y finds dead car and decides he can fix it.
Y spends thousands rebuilding said car and goes to list his restored car.
Holder of list says hang on that car was listed as dead.
There are grey area's and everyone has opinions.
Mister Y isn't a Shonk but holder of list may thing he is.
Unless a car is officially written off I wouldn't think listing cars on a register as dead is good thing. Could be a double edged sword if you know what I mean.
Time to shut my mouth.
Cheers all.
I would say I agree with Rob 1970 that it could be a double edged sword. There are advantages and disadvantages to these details being out there. I would agree some details be not displayed. The example above is a good one, would be an awkward situation.
Building a fake around an ID plate is another known practice esp. in vehicles worth large sums eg Torana XU-1 or GT Falcon. As we have seen loose plates appear on eBay ect from time to time would keeping a note of this sort of info (privately by a the moderator) be an advantage?
Would it be worth having a email contact attached to cars in the list if owners are open to being contacted?

Thanks also to Phillb for the good level of support from another reliable bloke. (But i do keep hassling Phill that his father was the designer or the wind-up windows. Those who have totally rebuilt them will understand my hassling!)

Hey Hey, my old man can't take all the blame, actually the Aussie windups were a team effort by a very clever bunch of Aussie Body Hardware engineers at Zetland. In fact a fellow by the name of Chris Rogers, who my Dad worked very closely with, really should get most of the credit for the overall design.
Wayne has ribbed me a number of times about how complex and difficult they are to disassemble but I remember my late father was so familier with them he could dissemble/reassemle them with his eyes closed.
