Pulled all the plugs out for a look after the trip to Wakefield Pk and back.
All 4 look perfect and the same colour. Who said you can't get equal mixtures between cylinders with a Weber or Dellorto carb- they wuz wrong! :P

Went up to the workshop where my Mini is and the boys told me I had a package arrive. It felt like my birthday or christmas and I ripped it open to find the Gearstick Knob had arrived and I fitted it. So much nicer to change gears rather than grabbing the stick and stabbing my palm.

Finally finished this beast so I could clear the room in my garage to continue my engine rebuild.

Its a 1972 VW Beetle, German (Bavarian) Police spec replica. Got genuine lights and sirens sent out by the German police. Such a fun car around town.

Went for a drive around the block then Cleaned out the blocked fuel return line, removed the drivers side tank and cleaned the filter, Im wondering if this affected the fuel delivery to the engine when on the dyno. removed the fuel gauge sender and adjusted so the fuel gauge doesn't read empty when the tanks are half full

Got the engine running after sitting for 3 years doing nothing, finally starting to get somewhere, first step in a very long rebuild.

After driving on a badly corrugated road yesterday and noticing an engine vibration when I went to drive home last night, I checked it out this morning and noticed seven fins missing from the fan. Took the fan off and left it off. Went for a test drive and all good. Hope the weather doesn't warm up too much though.

Spent the weekend taking off the underbody tar/rubberised/black death off the floor.
If that isnt the worst job I dont know what is. There is no not-messy way to get it off...
Next time im just cutting out the floor and putting a new one in.

I have found in the past it helps if you can heat it with a light flame on an oxy or similar and then use a 1" paint scraper or wood chisel.
The final cleanup is messy as I use lots of rags and lots of thinners, and make sure you wear thinners resistant rubber gloves or it will make a mess of your hands.
