Flashtac from bunnings is a top sound deadener too, i have it in my van and dynamat in my 1000S, both work the same except Flashtac is way cheaper.

Haze Blue, i fit the flexi section to my exhausts primarily to let it move, but in its own it will act as a little muffler and any way you can reduce vibrations in a cars parts will reduce overall noise.

The only thing that annoys me about dynamat is the weight. I know of a car here with something like 300kg's of it!

Enough dynamat supalite to do an entire car, including the roof, weighs about 15kg. The full strength dynamat is less then 2x that, from memory.

Been reading some old wheels mags (see below). Certainly this was an issue even with a stock cooper s. this is dispute the fact the cooper s had quite a lot of additional sound proofing compared to other models. Eg under parcel shelf, boot floor, boot lid, carpet underfelt, bonnet underside ect.

I've found the boot floor, and rear parcel shelf padding helps.
