Guys looking at a car for a mate of mine. Seems a bit expensive given current condition of motor but someone may be able to save me a flight.

All I can tell you it has been for sale on and off for ages (a year or more maybe?) I remember the photos.

Yes it's hard to understand why you wouldn't just get it running at least.

I happen to know the vendor. He is a pretty genuine guy and due to family/work commitments I believe he is unable to spend anymore time on the car. The asking price probably reflects accurately what has been spent on buying and restoring it, but as we all know, what a certain car owes you is not necessarily what it is worth, unfortunately.

On the other hand, price would seem reasonable as I believe genuine Coopers like this would be quite sought after (esp in the UK) providing you could finish the work off yourself.

I saw this car in 2005 at an open day Graham Russel had in Sydney. Then owned by someone (I have a name) I think from Golburn? It was sold to someone else in SA and the wrong head and carbs (1.5'S) removed and other things done to make it more original.

I believe it to be an honest car, but should be Nurburg white with BRG roof?

Hi Greg, it was 7 years ago, but it seemed ok back then I don't think the current owner has really used it at all, it was on NSW historic plates in 05 and I suspect it was not re-registered again in SA. I believe the current owner had some health issues and has been trying to sell it since.

I saw nothing to make me suspect the provenance of the car, but did not do a thorough check as I would if I was buying!

I think the price would have been relevant 12 / 18 months or so ago, but the market has seemed to ease of late, there are more cars for sale than ever at the moment I feel.

If I get chance, I'll send you the pictures I have.

Cheers Graham 8)
