I want to get a LSD for a fast road, 100bhp+, daily driver, 1360 BMW twin cam.
What are my options :?:
How do they compare in performance to each other :?:
What are the costs :?:
Where do I get them from :?:

You are probably best with a quaife type ATB diff. Search on internet for a price and place to purchase either here or in the UK.

This will be the most flexible and gentle to use.

What Simon said, not bad for fanging around a dusty paddock in Hay too.

Hay, it's not about the car, it's not about the venue, it's about the people that come here. Peter Dwyer, Mayor of Hay NSW.

I saw in NG's thread from the 2010 group buy that they require the case to be machined, but otherwise a direct fit. Can anyone elaborate on the machining?

the later ones (current ones) do not need the case to be machined,,, they are a direct "bolt-in"

Mmmmm.....I've still found you do need to touch the diff caps a little - at least on very late gearboxes.

Salisbury diff's often need the cases modified too... All part of putting an LSD in really! If it bolts up, see it as a bonus!

(waits for that pig to comment)

Tip for young players: don't bolt one corner up at once. Do it like a tyre, slowly - jump from corner to corner.

Thank me later Mowog.

Can the diff caps be touched by anyone or do they need an engineers expert touch?
