oh yeah, mokesinc is great

Lots of cali's
Pretend Cali's
Strange Cali outback cars
other cali's

Lots of people who love originality but drive a tarted up standard moke to look like a cali

Anyway, here's my moke:

Don't judge a whole group by a few people who didn't agree with you. Every forum has it's asshats and you don't need to join or post to look at the pics.

Besides, how is a pretend Cali on there any different to a pretend Cooper on here?

That's the thing Bnicho, it's not.

But having said that, I find a lot more people on here who like their car for what it is, and happily parade it as a base model leyland mini, or as an 850.

Not many, if any on the moke forum say "Hey, I have a standard 72 moke, it looks like a standard 72 and I love it!"

Yes, you are right there. But I am one of the few I guess. Mine is a standard 71 and it's got no Cali bits on it at all. Deliberately. :)

Geez, the anti-cali mafia here are almost as bad as the 10" wheel team. Howls of derision thrown at anyone who dares to put the parts or wheels on their car that don't follow the current fashion.

The point about these cars is the modifications that are possible by mixing and matching parts and making the car that you like, not the one people tell you to have.

My moke is unashamedly made from a 78 Californian and 3 other dead mokes with a large chunk of MG Metro, some MX5 and plenty of tubing thrown in. It, apparently, is about 1 digit on the compliance plate away from being a "real" Californian. Why that means the herd on here should think it is inferior to their cars is beyond me. You are as bad as the Originality Police that you complain so much about.

I would have thought that mini and moke owners would be beyond the kind of snobbery that you'd expect from Porsche owners.

I have no issue with people who like Cali's.
Nor do I have an issue with people who are a stickler for originality; I just happen to be neither.

My issues are with people who don't practice what they preach

And I dislike the fact that 9/10 mokes on mokesinc seems to be a cali or cali lookalike - hence the reason I no longer visit
