Yes, with a multi meter. I disconnected the wires at the sender on the tank. When I measured the resistance across the sender terminals I got about 9 Ohms. The tank is brimming and the senders I have seem to range about 20 Ohms full and about 300 Ohms empty. Actually this sender is the lowest resistance at full of any I have come across. I was worried it may be drawing too much for the regulator.

Then I checked that the wire in the back of my gauge was the same one a connected to the sender as one was Green-Black and the other Black-Green  . I did this with a long peice of wire and checking continuity on the meter. Beep meant the harness was made by the devil but still working.

Then I measured the voltage at the regulator. There are B and I markings. With the body of the regulator earthed and ignition on, one should read battery voltage and the other should read 10 Volts. Mine read zero.

I grabbed another off a spare speedo and swapped the wires over then tried the new one. My digital meter flickered as the regulator did its thing but it was near enough to 10V (DC setting on meter).

Put it all back together and the needle came up like it had just taken a blue pill.

I think I may have blown up the regulator when driving with the speedo hanging out of the binnacle as I tried to diagnose the lack of speedo worky. Maybe the fuel gauge terminals shorted to earth in the dash rail?

Thanks for the tips.
Looks like my sender is dead :/
I have placed an order for a new one.

Oh yeah baby. The 6 year resto is finally finished. Now, to fix all those niggly little things that continue to pop up.

Thanks to all who have offered help along the way.

Removed the exhaust and the Supercharger so I can replace the leaking manifold gasket.
This gasket is more critical on the inlet side due to the boost  due to taking the charger on and off a few times the gasket now needs replacing
Need it to be all good for Sunday

Pulled apart my new 1275 I've just brought. Finished stripping and cutting the clubman up. Expect a big for sale thread soon with alot of clubman and early Morris stuff. PM me if there is anything specific you need as I most likely have it.

Drove it, to the distinct smell of raw fuel. I've noticed occasionally one (or both) float bowl valves tend to stick open, and raw fuel spills out the overflow and down the heat shield over the extractors

Couldn't really stop in the middle of the West Gate Freeway, so did the next best thing and hit the fuel pump cutoff switch, which stopped the stink.

The good thing about having twin carbs is that the car will run for 500m or so on the fuel in the bowls, before I needed to turn the pump back on briefly.

Made it home without becoming a fireball, which I consider a success

Managed to snap the small length of wire on the indicator stalk for the lefthand side indicators. It was sitting on the contact, but not enough to make things flash, went to bend it slightly and it came straight off. These porrly made pieces of crap and really annoying me.

I ended up putting my old one back on, no highbeams, but at least I have indicators!

WTB coming soon.....

Tested a pair of Pulsar dizzys for an ausmini member. Unfortunately, both had dead electronic modules, so no sparky.
This is pretty uncommon, I've only seen 1 of these fail before.

Not sure how caused.... I've left ignition on with these lots of times with engine stopped and never killed one. But this does kill other modules for Lucas dizzys (eg. cheapo UK sourced ones and also Pertronix 1).
