Another question for the night...recently put some 10x6 mini lites on the clubby, anyone else have any problems with them scrubbing badly?
So bad at times I can no longer get even near a full lock when turning/parking.

There doesn't seem to really be any way of stopping this...can't really roll the gaurds like I had to for my commodore?

Yep , i have 10 x 6 mambas and they scrub , more so r/h front when turning left.

I have even lifted my car up a bit and that helps a little bit .

Yep badly in that same situation...pulling into a lane out of a driveway today almost put me into a wall! Just would not turn!

I must have lucked out on the ride height. 10x6 Mambas no touching anywhere.

At the end of the day it doesnt matter what wheels you have on the car: if they stick out 2 inches from the body they'll rub when you turn.
Guards need to be trimmed back, or if you have drums go back to flat ones.

Are they scrubbing at the top or at the front of the wheel arch?

If they scrub at the top of the arch the ride height could be to low and rubbing when you cross a drive way and opposite corners have weight. Also check ride height bump stop condition.

If scrubbing at front edge check tie bars are nice and straight and rubbers are in good order. If they are bent they will bring the wheel slightly forward. The various offsets of wheels, even though same width, has an effect also.

If you have metal backed flares that adds a little extra to the guard too.

I know this is not a clubman but is this where you mean?

Yeah ive always had the same issues with 10 x 6 wheels too. It scrubbed on the front of the guards particularly on left turns on the right side.

You can raise your suspension height which helps, or go back to 10 x 5's. Im running 10 x 5 mambas and theres no issues at the moment. Although Im planning on going to some original 10 x 6 mambas and there might be some issues again.

Just wondering if anybody would know out there: I have adjustable front suspension, If I increase the length of the tie-bars would that help? In my mind i can see the whole wheel moving backwards, if the tie-rod ends were also adjusted accordingly. Tell me im wrong?!

Mine do it all the time, I have adjustable lower arms now so il throw some more castor in it and that should help but isnt ideal..

You can do that, but the more you add to it the less the car will want to naturally drive straight and self centre steering. The steering becomes very light too.
Cars have castor for a reason.

OK, because I know before with the standard suspension set-up it was scrubbing quite a bit.

So if I throw in some negative camber and a bit of castor that should help. It honestly doesnt bother me too much, just means sometimes getting in and out of carparks on full lock is a pain.

I have a Clubman S with the spaced drums all round, and like phillb posted, probably will look like that..(I want to make my own bolt on metal/plastic flares, but thats another story).
Is there any way to cut out abit of the arch or is it not worth the trouble? Rear wont rub will it? Only possibly over a bump...?
I have full adjustable suspension coming in so I can lift the car up but will that affect handling and I kind of feel like that defeats the point of having wide wheels and flares...

Not sure , i could be wrong , but does the Clubman have more of a forward opening on the front gaurds than a roundie ?, from the 2 pics it looks like it .

Original post did mention a clubby as having the problem. And there is a difference with the front arch. The flares are a different shape. Also my backing strips are welded under the lip, not on top.

All depends on offset.

I have 10x6 (ultralights i think) on my mini and had to bend the front part of the wheel arch out so that they could turn. These have real bad offset though and i needed to go and buy some group- 2 arches to cover them.

Mambas offsets are not as bad which may explain why Dalmini doesnt hit.

we had the same issue with monster... hoping it was just rubbing on the flares... we were wrong . solved it by switching the 10x6 fromts to 10x5. different offset means no more rubbing... massive improvement on the turning circle too.
