So as the title says, I thought it would be interesting to hear about how long it took some of you guys to get your mini on the road and the sort of hurdles you faced and maybe even how long it was off the road for.
Mine has been just over a year now that I've been working on it and slowly getting things done for rwc, it's not too far away now so im getting excited and can't wait to drive it, this is my first mini but i can guarantee it's not going to be my last. my fiance wants a van now since she seen mine come a long way.

Tell her she better wait until I get mine on the road before she decides on a van. Could be a couple of years but I'm thinking it will be well worth it.
I'll be in touch tomorrow

I bought my moke in 1993 and first registered it in 1999. This year it has spent 8 months off the road with its engine on the floor.

I have owned my 850 shell for more than 18 months with little progress. The deluxe shell has been in the shed more than 3 years.

Compared to me you are speeding through!

M

4 years and I've just started cutting the rust out of the bare shell....

Have had Back Surgery in the middle there though so not too upset.

Cheers,

Dicko.

Im nearly at three years and counting.
Although in my defense I was doing a complete rebuild with every wearable part replaced with new. However I discovered new parts are crap so now Im re-rebuilding it using mostly old parts.

My old 70 van took three and a half years.
The Moke took three years, although the last eight weeks were very rushed.
The Traveller... 11 years and still going...
I've done more to the Shitbox Rally 69 van in a couple of months than to the Traveller the entire time I've owned it. :(
