I have decided to rebuild both calipers so this way i can remove them from the problem list..lol
ive purchased all new alloy pstons and have ordered a seal kit too.

ive pulled one apart allready and completly taken it back to bare metal so will start o the other one this comming week.

Smart move , you really can't put a price on good brakes , do it right the first time and they will last for years , not to mention that you will have less trouble bleeding them when everything is working as it should .

they come back if pumped ...but if you pump the pedel and hold pressure on it you can feel the pedel go down very slowly.

These are classic symptoms of the primary seal in the master cylinder leaking internally. The pedal goes to the floor slowly, often under light pressure and there will be no external fluid loss.

Check by clamping off all 4 flexible hoses, if the primary seal is at fault the pedal will still go to the floor as before.

Cheers

Thanks for reply...
I have removed the master cylinder as it was my main concern seeing as it has been sitting for ages ..but my mini people said it was all ok...no problems.....
ill get to the bottom of this hick up sooner or later lol
once the brakes are rebuilt ill be checking all joins front to rear...plus check the rear drums as i hae not looked at these yet but seeing as i was not loosing any fluid i took it for granted they were ok........i wont let this beat me...

The best thing to do with brakes is just assume that all the rubber parts are 40 years old and bin the lot.
The master cylinder seals, the flexible hoses, the rear wheel cylinder seals and calliper seals are very cheap compared to the cost of running out of brakes.

Thanks for the replys....
most of the parts used in this rebuild were all replaced, new or as new as you could get .
All brakes were rebuilt back in 2005 but after the accident just sat untill i started the rebuild .

the rear end was complelty rebuilt by link back in 2005 and i diddnt need to touch it as far as i no apart from a clean up ...it just had a major check up/service $1300 worth and all came back ok apart from the brake problem.

I now have another question????

ive allways wanted a hydrolic hand brake.....fleebay have then quite cheap...
I understand its law to normaly keep your original cable hand brake witch i will do but has anyone fitted a hydrolic handbrake to there mini???
als hows the install go.....im guesing it has tpo be tapped into the line somewhere in the rear...and afte the Adjustable Proportioning Valve ???

no real reason apart from idd like one if it could be done...
