As the title says, need help figuring out the age of my Mini.

Picked up a mini a couple of weeks ago without any documentation.
Thanks to some information from an ausmini member I have narrowed the age down to what I think are 2 posibilities.
61 or early 63. (He had a body number after mine that was May 63)
The facts as I see them.

1. My car is Nurburg White.
2. It has single skin A-panels. (read somewhere this was only on 59-61 cars)
3.Nurburg white was only offered in 60, 61 and 64 .(63 was Norburg White)
http://www.ozcooper.com.au/paint_codes.htm
4. According to my research minis were not produced in Aus until 61. (so it can't be a 60)
http://www.miniauto.com.au/minihistory.htm
This leads me to believe my car is a 61.

If it was an early 63, wouldn't the compliance plate be stamped with "Norburg White"?

Or did they call it "Norburg" and still stamp the plates "Nurburg"?

Has anyone got a plate with "Norburg" stamped on it from 63 to confirm this?

I notice Norburg White(Heron) in 63 has the same code as Nurburg White in 61. Can anyone confirm what would be on the compliance plate for these 2 colours? Would it actuall say "Norburg White" on a 63 car?

Any thoughts/comments?

The paint colour will not tell you as much as the body number will.

It is a typo on the website, they painted them Nurburg White in 63.

Well I think mine is a 63 it has the holes for the small sunvisors but has seat belt mounts, you can see where the seatbelt mount holes were in older cars higher up on the pillar , near the top , so what does that make it?on the plate it says 42237 and nurburg white .

Poorly repaired A Panels could be single skinned! But I hope for you it's an early one!

What are the drain holes at the front of the roof gutters like? Door kick panels? Silver or black?

Seats? tubular legs or plates, Cross member have welded on seat brackets or bolt on?

Where is the plate situated and the numbers stamped on the bulkhead? Drivers or passengers side?

Actual car number will give good indication too, is it a CKD, two numbers?

61 car might be something like: YMA2S1 59840 / 2000

63 more like YMA2S1 167725 / 29931 or just YMA2S1 35500 for a later non CKD.

Morris 1100 tells me it is an early 63.

CKD is 159886
Car no is 28168

Plate and number on driver side

Bolt on seat mounts.

Round drain holes.

Door kick plate is silver metal.

The a-panel was a red herring.

After I wire brushed around the wheel arch, I can see the spot welds.
the inner panel edge is VERY thin and looked like one piece until i hit the edge with the wire brush.

So I looks like early 63 is what it is.
