What ever became of Amaroo Park raceway? I took a drive out past there today. I remember watching motor racing back in the 80's from there.

I thought there was a group still trying to save Lakeside for limited events :?:

They used it for rallycross for a while, then closed it, then I heard what you said, then I heard it was closed again. It's still there, AFAIK- but I heard noise is a major problem for getting it. More houses around there now.

No longer able to run anything other than "static" events due to noise. There was a local organising a protest there a few years ago as the KCC were going to dig up parts of the circuit to put picnic tables down as they felt that would give the locals and visitors better access and usage.
The hillclimb circuit at Amaroo is now a housing estate. I haven't been down to the main circuit or dirt circuit for a long time, but I suspect if they aren't gone too, they soon will be.

Is Silverdale Hill under houses yet? We used to use Pitt Town air strip for autocrosses but I guess that's gone also. No wonder car clubs have died, there are no venues to run anything.

Like Makka said, Amaroo is a housing estate now. My Aunt & Uncle had a poultry farm just down the road, and they had the sign for Amaroo on it, so we always got free tickets to all the big races. But now my Uncle passed away, the farm was sold to developers and my Aunt moved to the central coast

Makka is also right about Oran park, but you only have 18 months to use it. It will be closed by November 2006. If you were thinking about having a go, get out there NOW.
