Thanks keastmini!

Yeah I think I'll be there braad... I've got a bit of noise from the front right, either CV or brake pad issue, I'll have a loot at it tomorrow if I get a chance and take it around the block, if it all checks out I'll be there.

Hi peeps :
As you can see im new here " been lurking for months :-)" and decided to sign up " thanks mick ".

Anywho my name is Bill i live in Corio " lower lovely Banks as i like to say :-) " which is a suburb of geelong victoria .

Been a long time Mini fan ,having owned one some 20+ years ago " yes im old :-) " and probably going through a mid life crisis as i must have a mini again.

So im looking for a cheap one " disabilty pension only stretch's so far :-) " $2000 - $2500 is my target and after looking at the prices of mini's these days i can see i will need some luck or good fortune to pick one up at that price .

So hi to all .

Hi Guys

I am new to the forums, been lurking for a while.

As an intro..
My name is Shayne
I live in Jimboomba, Queensland (south of Brisbane)
I have a project mini that has been sitting in my shed for about 20 years (its a 69 from memory)
Currently undercoat grey, but will need to be redone.
It has been decided that I will finally build the car up for my wife to have as a toy occasional driver. She always wanted it.
Currently looking at doing an R1 engine conversion for it.
It currently has a Mk1 1275 cooper engine in it that was running (though a bit smokey from memory) when I drove it into the shed.
If I can't get the R1 sorted I guess I will use the 1275.

Hoping to get this project underway and completed in the next 12-18 months.

I look forward to bouncing issues/ideas off of you.

Cheers

--Shayne

Hey guys, new to Ausmini but that new to minis...I've had a Clubby sitting in my garage for a few years now. Time to rebuild and turn it into a killer. Big plans and a nice sized budget. Hope to meet and drive with some of you in the near future.

Hey everyone, I'm David from Rockingham Western Australia, I'm new to the site and the the world of minis.

I recently purchased a 1977 clubman LS 1275, been busy stripping it down to fix some rust in the floor, just need to bite the bullet and cut the front 2 floor pans out :)

Hi,

Another new member to the forum. After not owning a car for some 20 years (I ride motorbikes) I got the urge to revisit my youth and get a mini as a project. One of my daughters (14) is interested in getting her hands dirty with the renovations with a view to one day having the car as her own. Not sure how long her interest will last when it comes to getting covered in oil but she may surprise me.

I've had probably somewhere in the region of 20 minis when I was in my teens living in the UK so hopefully it won't be too hard getting myself reaquainted with the inner workings - and I reckon I'll need to get right into the inner workings as my 'new' 76 Clubman S is in need of a fair bit of tinkering.

Wish us luck

Best of Luck Nick...the Mini project should be worth it just for the bonding with your daughter alone...remember to watch your step around the garage floor though!! :D

hi, been here before as Foz, but lost log in details and access to email. I have had many cars over the years, preferring small euro things that can be made to fast, but I have had a few executive stormers too 535, 325 and C5 (lol). Don't buy a C5 by the way.

Got a 69 mini k, had it from a guy who left me with a few headaches and a few bonuses. All in all, she's a great car. I am hoping to get her back on the roa next year, then I might sell her or run her. not sure yet. What I know about this game is that I will probably spend too much time and money on her, I always have with my previous cars. This time though I have two small sons, so they take up a lot of my time and money. so we'll see how it all pans out.

Location - Brisbane bayside
From - Surrey in UK
Real name - Steve

Hi all,

After a short break from mini's (nearly 20 years :/) I've finally found myself a new one to play with. My first car was a mini and I've regretted selling it ever since, i'd love to know what happened to my old car, haven't see it since :-(

Anyway, my new? toy is a 1968? mini-matic, which has at some stage been switched over to a 4 speed and had the 998 swapped out for an 1100. The previous owner was a guy I've worked with for the last 6 years or so, I was chatting to him one day and we were talking about cars and mentioned that I'd love to find another mini one of these days... just so happened that he had one sitting in his shed unregistered for the last 5 years...

3 months of constant hassling from me and he finally agreed to sell it to me, so I picked it up 2 weeks ago and as of yesterday.... it's back on the road! ;-)

Needs a bit of work but the plan is to just drive it around for 12 months and enjoy it, then take it off the road and strip it down spend some time / money on it. Anyway, enough talk... I will post some pictures in a minute

Hi chux,
Welcome back to mini land! Similar situation to me, first car was a mini and 20 years later decided to buy another one and enjoy the little beast again, although I haven't been able to drive my new one yet

holy crap Rusty I just checked out your build thread... I thought my first mini had some serious rust and was a big job, but yours is just on a whole new level!! can't wait to see how yours turns out, I bet it's going to be an absolute stunner judging by the time and effort you're putting into the resto work.

Hi guys (& girls if there are any using the forum)

I'm XC9000 alter ego Wayne from Minis in the Gong. I've also been a long-standing member of the ACTMCC and while I live in Berry on the South Coast of NSW I'm a reasonably active member of the Canberra Club. They are a fantastic bunch - believe me.

XC9000 ( http://www.fatblokeracing.org/marketeer ... 9000.shtml )was the prototype. I tried heaps to get registered for using the Ausmini forum with several different names, eg., minispeed etc over many months and couldn't attract the attention of the moderator (sorting spam) ~ so I wondered if anyone had heard of the early prototype - XC9000. Lo & behold - i got the silly name registered and now I’m stuck with it!

My interest in Minis started with my 1964 Morris Cooper purchased in 1967. I bought my MK2 MCS in 1991 after having the experience of owning a replica which wasn’t fessed up as a mock-up. I think I have had about 16 Minis in all my life currently owning 5 going cars including a buggy and one stationary 850.

I have a special interest in history and heritage. I have a post graduate heritage conservation degree and probably created the first Conservation Management Plan on a Mini. Must be crazy hey…

Anyhow, that’s me. Wayne B
