Wow that looks awesome. Alloy 7-port + turbo + injection + 1061cc = wow

Yes there will be some more heat shielding to go around the masters and fire wall things will get very hot when it's on the track.

Might be a bit more then 1061cc this time after the piston change but still has a 998 crank

The first lot of tuning will be about 10psi, this is what the wast gate is so thats the least it can run. Depending how that goes then we can start pushing things more. I have numbers of what I want and think we should get but time will tell, it makes what it makes on the day :)

My brother drove it in our front yard under its own power for the first time this avo and got it idling properly :D

Sadly iv hurt my left knee and got meniscal and soft tissue damage so it will be a few weeks before I can do things and press a clutch  luckly the Evo is twin clutch

Thanks Nathan.

sweet news. you need to get a video up of it idling for all of us poor mini owners

thats a bugger about your knee, but lucky its only a few weeks. I've had a few mates out for a few months with tissue damage

Well today has been a very long time coming, a lot of years have passed since I start building this! But today was Dyno day for the 7 port turbo, had a few set up challenges with the quad throttle body's not giving a clear signal to the map sensor for the ECU but nothing that couldn't be over come.

The limiting factor become the clutch starting to slip as we started to add more advance to the ignition at around 5500rpm. So no final power just yet but from what we have now it looks good to make what I'm hoping for :)

Flywheel is out the car and will be sent off tomorrow to get re-balanced with a new diagram and clutch plate. It will also get the strap height cheeked. Hopefully back in the car on the weekend and finish tuning next week :)

Who said high comp and lots of boost wouldn't won't hasn't used E85  the car drives better off boost then it use to with the weber on the 5port and then starts to liven up above 3500rpm!

More to come over the next week :)

Thanks Nathan.

Congratulations Nathan!
Thats excellent news and a positive result. Is there any indication what power and torque it is likely to produce, or is that staying secret?
I hope you take a video of when the clutch/flywheel are back on and its strapped down to the dyno again. Im sure there'd be some interest for it!

Goodluck

Thanks! As it stands it made 79kw at 6800rpm with only 12deg full advance, after increasing it to 15ish it peaked at around 82kw and around 140nm at 5500rpm then the clutch gave up.. It's still not running much boost as we ramp up the tune on it.

I would like 100kw/140hpatw so we will see how we go.

Nothing is secret about the build anymore now it's done, so any questions are fine.

I think the only thing that hadn't been said about the motor in the build was the comp and it's 11.2:1.

Thanks Nathan.

They're great numbers.
Thats really high comp for a turbo motor!

11 to 1 on a boosted engine! Isn't that mad scientist territory?

100kw from a 998 though - gotta take my hat off to that.

very neat, I would love to do this head and throttle conversion on my motor, just cant quite justify the $$$$.

what mods have you done to run E85? fuel lines and injector size etc or are you only running 98 atm?

Grant

Technically it's not a 998cc.
But that power figure is very good and impressive anyway, great job Nathan.

Ohhhh e85 explains the higher compression

Derp. You stated that very fact in your post! I have selective sight, only see whats exciting haha

yep, lookin good Nat, keep on keeping on mate.

& yes the E85 allows for much higher comp ratios & much more advance,,, altho the only downfall is that you do use quite a bit more fuel, so that`s not mnuch of a downfall really is it? ;-) but then it is available at some servos so it`s not hard to get or illegal to use on the road AVGas

Quite a few of the Imroved Production race guys are using E85 now & we`re currently building a 1900cc 20v toyota corrolla engine for Greg Craig to run on it so we`ll see how good it is ourselves soon enough :-) we just bought a new set of massive injectors for it :-)

well done Nat , keep up the good work & keep up with the updates for everyone is very happy that you`re showing them everything you do, good on you fella!!!

The ford guys are getting massive increases in power and torque with the turbo6 and V8's, old and new. People are getting reconfigured fuel systems and retunes evrrywhere in the ford performance world.

The comp is 'high' in turbo mini land but racing classes like improved production are running more then that on there turbo motors!

My car has ran E85 for a long time, even with the 5 port head and weber on it. Fuel lines were fine untill i let the car sit for a year and went hard.. But now you can buy flex fuel rated hose that copes no problems. fuel lines are bigger then std mini but only because I had to run a return line for the EFI so ran two new ones.

Clutch is fixed and the car is driving again now, cant get it to the dyno again untill next week but its silly as it is so not a massive deal

Off boost it drives smother and nicer then what it ever has and has a lot more torque down low then with the 5 port NA ever did so very happy about that, then above 3k its starting to spool by 4k it brakes traction in first no clutch with the dog box into second and hold on because it torque steers hard!

lots of fun to drive all be it a hand full cant wait for the final tune and take it to the track 8)

PS. with the rebuild to flat top pistons before hay last year there was a miss communication about piston size and stampings to the motor has +80 on the piston but its really +120 not happy as it may lead to headgaskit problems but time will tell.

Thnaks Nathan.
