What are you plating- the mounts or the calipers?

Modification plating....or as I call it 'blue plating'.....sorry for the confusion. Its just the Qld way of making mods legal.....engineer approved....now that I have the first approved, so long as I stick to the same plan the rest will go straight through.... 8)

How much do the engineers in Qld charge to provide certification for a set of these brakes? :)

my mate finished one of the brackets this arvo, he has to do a bit more on the other one, bit of grinding etc.. but yeah, 8mm thick and strong as a bastard :)
i tried fiting them to my calipers, but the lobs just foul the caliper by about 1mm, so i have to do a bit of grinding.. and they'll be on!!

Can you tell me what the distance is from the centre of the large hole to the centre of the calliper mounting holes?
Thanks

For 12 or !3" wheels (ie. discs not turned down) the 2 holes (12mm) are on a 93mm radius from the centre.

For 10" wheels they need to be moved back 14mm from this position.
Sorry I can't give exact radius- I don't have CAD here and my trigonometry is rusty...

Hi
I know the conversion for 10" rims won't fit under standard mini rims, but would the wheels from a clubman 's' like the ones here http://www.miniman.com.au/wheel.htm fit over the conversion?

Clubman S, or Clubman GT wheels are both the same offset as a 4.5x10 Cooper S wheel. You would need 40mm spacers, this will move them out 15mm past stock on a Clubman S.

Drmini, just wondering did you use the standard 3 bolds that held the backing plate on? or did you get high tensile bolts? cause with 8mm spacers theres about 3mm of thread left, thinking about getting longer higher tensile ones soon :? id hate to imagine what would happen if they sheered offf

thx

The stock backing plate bolts had plenty of thread left on the ones I've done so far, which used only 3.5mm plates.
I agree, get some grade 5 or 8 bolts, or grade 12 Unbrakos- a bit longer if using 8mm plate.

A mate of mine has decided to flog his 7.5" S discs (sorry, they're already spoken for) and fit 7.9" Civics, and pocket the $$$$ difference... :P

<edit> He probably won't be the last one, either. I'd do it, if I had 12" wheels..

Just my personal opinion Doc. I respect the amount of effort you've put into the mod immensely.

But I dont think I'll do the conversion on 10 inch wheels. I'm gonna wait and put 12's on to do it. If ya think about it, for the price of the mod, and a set of 12" wheels and tyres its about the same price as a Cooper S 7.5 disc setup.

No need to worry about clearances then, and probably MUCH better brakes :-)
