well this was the bling motor. Drove her around for 8 months or so and then I could not get as much power out of her. Swapped engines over and took the head off. I saw the mark and I let it sit for a while. Today I took it all apart.

Okay what did this. I found 2/3 of the clip still where it should be but it looks like the other 1/3 had found it way to the other side and also done this. Shame really but this does mean the a 1275 of sorts will start to be built

What cylinder gafmo, i have seen that a few times on small bores. Seems to be a "hot spot" on/in the cylinder wall.

Hey Gaf, long time no see!

The circlip hasn't been put in right, but I see that it's still there - somehow. Sure something wasn't left inside the gudgon pin?

Yep the Van is reminding me of thing I use to do which lead me to pulling its motor apart, but thats next weekend. Circlip pictured is fine, its the one from the other side that failed. Found 2/3 still attached its the other 1/3 that stuffed it...just one of those things. Time for me to get Mining again

Is something like that salvageable ?

IF anything, would a bore and sleeve fix it?

That was my ex-Moke 998 block.
I offered Gaf another 998 or 1098 one for free, but he's chosen to rebuild his spare 1100S motor instead.
Good call, they don't have circlips (made in Taiwan) in 1275 pistons. :P Yes, and they were fitted the right way round.
