Greetings All.

Been getting "butter" in the rocker cover. No water in the oil (yet).

Cleaned it out a couple times thinking it may be condensation, Ha! not that lucky.

Just pulled head off for new gasket. It has a slight flaw from head bolt towards cylinder. Very very slight (may have been there all its life)

As I had the bock faced and all new bits, I'm thinking I'll get it faced just to be sure.

As it's a 202 head, on an 850, no pitting or corrosion. What should I be asking to face off. As the chamber is a couple ml bigger than the 850, I'm thinking I have plenty to play with but don't want excesive compression.

Whats a ball park price and how much off should I specify?

Alex.

I'd take .060" off it if still original thickness (2.750").

Dunno what the going rate in the trade is, I'd do for $50 if you were in Sydney.

Use an ACL Monotorque had gasket, not a copper one. They seal better.

Thanks Doc.
Already got a Copper gasket from MiniSport this morning (dam!) I'll strip it and get it done during the week.
If it's 50 - 100 it's a good investment.
Thanks
Alex.

You are right, no need for .060", I was thinking it's a 295 head which have HUGE chambers.
But I'd still take .030" off a 202 if it's going on an 850 or 998, the C/R will be less than stock 850 otherwise.

Thanks again for responses.

At about 3 o'clock (Saturday) my Wife was disappointed we couldn't take the mini to today's Mini Kroozers Christmas Run. Mmmm........

I quickly decided to take her 997 Cooper head off her project and put that on. Only trouble was removing the rusted by-pass fitting. Eventually got it out. Had it running around 11pm. Up early this morning to re-adjust tappets, fuel it up vacumm and wash. Seems to be pulling harder in top gear. Yahoo. Will do a minimum facing on my head and use it on her re-build.

Thanks all.
