I've been thinking seriously about installing a parking hoist at home in my man cave so I can fit more than one mini in there. The problem is the lowish ceiling in the garage, but I've measured it and it can easily fit two minis one on top of the other.

Surely someone has looked into this or already has some solution?

The problem is most parking hoists are made for 3 tonne 4wd and are huge, all I need is one that is 1 tonne and miniature...

How high is your garage??

I would recommend a 2 post. That is what I have got. Benefits over 4 post..

Tyre rotations
adjusting brakes, bleeding, caliper and pad changes as well..

I will have a 2 bay, plus mancave.. ( ie 3bay with 2 roller doors)

What about instead of parking lengthways in a bay, using skates to maneuver them in sideways? Or angled etc?

The success of that will depend on your garage layout of course.

Squeezing another car in will always be worth the effort.

With the two posts, how deep do the bolts need to go into the concrete to secure the posts? Is there an option where no drilling is required??

The ceiling height is exactly 2870mm if that helps?

No matter what you buy, it will have to be drilled / bolted into the concrete.
major safety hazard if its not.

if you need a bit extra height, you can always fit a couple of whirly gigs to gain a bit more height


You need to bolt it down a bit deeper than a regular slab. 6"?

Australian Classic car has an ad with portable ones but it doesn't get much height

The problem is the smallest 2 posters are width 3300 or so, max width for me would need to be about 2600 (which is much more than a mini's width anyway.

Pretty much a single car garage with 2870 height. It can fit a car lengthwise fine but width I wouldn't want to exceed 2600 by too much.

It is a double car garage so yes I have two side by side spaces but want to make it 3 spaces...

By "floor plate" hoist what do they mean?? do I need to drill and mount a floor plate to hold up the posts? Ideally I'd like to not drill anything...

That product is genius, but could be dangerous to people that don't understand the loading in the bolts that are put in the ground there. If the bolts are too loose it could fail, if they'e overtightened and reused later they could snap.

Thanks for your help Brett! Interesting product but I guess there is no need to store it away as such for me.

It would be this or the more compact 4 post which seems doable too and much the same price.

Either way it seems I have to drill holes in concrete, which I want to avoid if possible but it seems unavoidable...

Max lift height 1321mm with a 3" adapter, how high is a mini??

EDIT: I just measured my car, it's exactly 1320 or so high so I think this won't fit because you have to take into account the arms? Oh well it will have to be a 4 post at this stage.
