Wow! At that price its sure to be recalled next month!

These are great and are half price or so this time every year. I have lifted lots of engines with mine and it is still as new. Doesn't get whiskey d1ck and droop if left with a load suspended.

How well do they fit underneath? I bought a reasonable quality cheapy a couple of years back and its great - for the Moke. Unfortunately its legs sit too high to fit easily under the Mini. I think if the Mini's rubber cones were renewed it would be OK, but as it is now you have to partly jack up the car to get the crane underneath and that starts to defeat the purpose. I think the solution would be to modify the wheels to mount on the ends of the legs rather than beneath the legs.

Yes you need to jack the mini up a bit and take one wheel off for space.
Well worth it. Got mine from supercrap 6 years ago & still working fine.

Also used it for a lot of jobs I shouldn't.

Well that's interesting. It was less then 6 months ago i bought this very same crane from supercheap, with a free engine leveler for $200. So it was advertised as the normal price, but a free leveler (normally $60).

So they wack on $100 then have a 50% off sale!

It's a good crane though. My only complaint was one of the legs didn't actually have 4 holes drilled for one of the castor wheels. Easy fixed but really? How did they miss that on the production line?

I paid $199 for mine around 5 yrs ago at Supercheap, the most expensive they get during the year is typically $249.

Mine has been faithful the time I've owned it. Even after a stint on the patio for 6 months it's holding up well.

I didn't know that. Why are they 1250kg? Are they competing with Diesel Fitter's engine hoists?

They have changed somewhat from the company they were when they first opened in a big retail way (1992??). I bought a set of sockets from there for 20 bucks, they were made in Russia, individually wrapped in grease and paper and were made from Chrom Vandium The ratchets had 6 clicks per full circle, and the pawl was like a bolt. Reversing was by turning the ratchet over. The ratchet head was 50mm across, but I could hit them with a hammer to undo a flywheel bolt (I was so rough I had a butcher's apron).
I still have them here.

Supercheap were innovative back then with their stocks, now they're generally as expensive as anywhere else, and have the same tools as anywhere else. But maybe I'm just used to how much they've changed the game with auto shops...

Mines done heaps of work this year without a worry! Worth every cent

When they have a 50% off sale now it's "50% off retail". But they never sold the stuff at retail, most of the time the shelf sticker price for it is less a week or two before or after the `sale'.
Whenever a `sale' is on I only buy the bait stuff , eg Export degreaser, Castrol XLD Classic, etc.
