Been searching and searching but most of the posts relate to the 1275.
Is a 1 3/4 exhaust going to be too restrictive for my new motor. A straight pipe with single rear muffler is on the car at the moment, I need to buy extractors.
Am I better off buying a set of lcbs and getting a 2" pipe made up?

Cheers

That's what I did. I used a Maniflow med bore LCB and put the 2" pipe over it. I have a single rear box but have since put a hotdog in front to shut some of the bark up.

Does the 2 inch refer to the ID or OD?

All exhaust pipe is tubing, unlike water pipe, it is sized on the OD.
The thickness is 16 gauge = 1/16", so a 1-3/4" OD pipe is a neat fit inside a 1-7/8" one. True also for other sizes.

Original Cooper S etc pipe size is 1-3/4" OD, (1-5/8" bore)

Coincidently I was browsing through the extractor options and I noticed one thing that may be of interest.

What I and many others term to be Maniflow "Medium Bore" LCBs may not actually end in 2" OD pipe? Not sure if this is a recent thing or it has always been like this but here is what I would term to be "medium bore" LCB

http://www.minisport.com.au/prod73.htm

Note that in the description it says it's 1 3/4" ID ending whereas what is labelled here as "Large Bore" LCBs ends in 2" OD

http://www.minisport.com.au/prod565.htm

The later is what you want, as this is what I have, ends in 2 inch OD pipe and then 2 inch all the way through to the tail pipe.

As mentioned it is EXTREMELY loud, more than 90 decibels for sure (used to set off car alarms just idling past cars in a carpark, imagine how loud it was at full tilt!). Highly recommend a twin box exhaust system that has a hot dog before the muffler. Make sure you can see through both items and there are no vortexes or any other baffles in the way of the 2" pipe and it won't hurt your performance at all.

Wouldn't dream of it KB! Just didn't want coopar to buy the wrong set of extractors (costly mistake)

Cheers for the info guys.

Lillee, this was the set I was going to get.
http://www.minisport.com.au/prod1336.htm
I think $400 is a little much for the other set.

Is there going to be much of a problem putting a 2" pipe over the end of the 1 3/4 extractors?

Lillee, a Maniflow med bore Y piece is 1-7/8" OD, it takes a 1-3/4" pipe INSIDE.
A 2" pipe fits straight on OUTSIDE. Easy as. 8)

as I said above, exhaust pipes are measured on the OD not ID.
