Hi all.

Has anyone got an in car camera in their mini, aside from go-pro?

For example:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/281024330159 ... 1423.l2649

This one looked pretty neat for a $60 price tag...

It looks too good to be true....

But I am tempted for the Shitbox.

Feedback rating looks OK, but not outstanding. 64 negative in past 12 months, but over 4,000 positive...

Hmmmm........

The Chinese crap one I took on the Shitbox last year took okay video. But the audio and still picture quality was utter rubbish.

Maybe one day I will actually go through the 5.5 hours of video and pick out the good bits.

Maybe a Go-Pro for the main in-car stuff and a cheapie for the rear view and other angles might be the go.

I might get the cheapie and see how it does for the front/rear at once thing.

Thanks for the comments guys.

I don't have much experience with in-car cameras, but I have used cameras for rc aircraft and cars before. The chinese ones can be okay, they're never as good quality, and you need to pick and choose, but for the price, they can be a good buy.

I have a Blackvue dr400g-hd II in my X-Trail and it's very clear. Includes GPS tracking so you can sync with google maps and how your driving path blah blah

do any of these do timeslip type recording where they'll keep the last (say) 5 minutes for use in evidence etc. case of an accident?

The Blackvue will record 7 hours of full HD @30fps onto a 16Gb micro sd card. If you want more record time at that quality you can get a 32Gb card or lower the quality. You can set the length of recording ie. each file is 1 minute of record time, but thats changeable. When the card fills up while its recording it'll delete the oldest files to make space. If you want to keep anything you've recorded just copy it off the card onto your computer etc.
