There is a 1071 resting in a shed near Canberra. I'm sure he will be along soon.

What colours and years are these cars, I think there could be some double accounting going on.

Maybe we could start a list that could be copied and pasted with additions.

1- 1071 red/black Melbourne (one owner car)
2- 970 Rhodesian car purple
3-
4-
5-

Wow, only 13 1071's came to Australia by BMC! There must have been some truth to needing a race licence to order one.

Don't know where that came from John....personal imports are just...well...personal imports!...there are obviously a lot more than the 13 BMC brought in and some are even owned by LOLs (and only driven on Sundays) :)

I have what started life as a 970 S. It came to Tasmania in the mid 60's painted in a light metalic blue with a silver roof. The car was tuned by Clive Tricky and come here via South Africa. It competed in hill climbs around the Hobart area before the engine blew up in the late 60's. In 1970/1 John Gifford bought the car a turned it into a Clubman GT Sports sedan! The remains of the boot board brackes can be seen and there is body number on a small piece of spot welded tin on the drivers foot well. I get check the number and post it up. Also there is a 1071 S in Hobart in need of restoration..

This is a production plate, the same as the FExxxxx plate above the chassis plate. However, the plate on the drivers floor should start with Fxxxxxx. :)

Apart from my 1071, I know of three cars, and a handful of blocks also 10F stamped. I find it very hard to believe that without looking for them, I know of nearly half the cars that ever existed here.

My info was that 399 were brought to Australia, plus one additional making a total 400.

Mr Glasby has two 970s, one of which was featured in BMC Experience recently, he also has another in pieces.
Got a 1071 in storage
And a good friend of his also has a 970

So that's 3 970's in sydney alone.
