I'm after the starter motor that has the pre-engaged solenoid at the bottom. I want to know where to get them, what car do they come off :?: or who sells them :?:

As John said contact convertible mini (Tony) for the Bosch planetary geared starter.
I have one and it spins my 11.0:1 C/R 1360 like a top.

They are not a standard Bosch one, he has to mod the body to put the solenoid at the bottom, and there are some internal mods too.

Here's mine-

I found this one a little while ago too:

http://www.minis.com.au/minis/catalog/p ... ts_id=1271

Seems like a decent price for what should be a high quality part.

I have this starter, it is very very good. Coupled with a 550CCA battery and you're set for the coldest of winter startups!
