20W/50 here in Oz, no anti-friction additives. something like XLD classic or Castrol GTX original would be fine.

Note the auto block needs mods to work on a manual, see my thread at top of mods forum.

A couple of questions about these auto engines ,
How much oil do these auto's take ?

Old oil filter No is , R 2282 P . Is there any other breeds of filters for them , and if so ,
what numbers would i be looking for ? .

Are the timing marks on the convertor , ( haven't looked yet ) , if not , how do you time them ?
Thanks .

I will keep your offer in mind Wombat , not exactly sure of the condition of this motor , it has been left in the weather for a long time , i have got it to roll over by hand , chasing some bits for it to see whether it may fire up , ( lot of cleaning up crap at the moment ) .

Just buy your filters in quantity from Karcraft like I do. :P Cheaper that way.
Yes ,from memory there are marks on the converter.
But I'd weld a pointer onto the timing cover (or use a late Clubby 998 one) and file a notch in the crank pulley. Much easier to see what you are doing.

I don't think i'll have much use for more than 1 auto oil filter Doc , i can't see me driving a mini with a slush box i'm afraid  , ( not 8) ) .

I'm really only after the 1275 to build up a spare engine , sometime down the track .

Ok , apparently Ryco do not make this filter anymore , anybody know of another brand that will suffice ? I'm going to check and see whether a Ryco 2200 P ( cartridge type ) for a mini will do the trick , there is not a huge difference between them .

2200P is way too short.
Karcraft carries a Wix equivalent-
WL7058/1 FILTER - OIL - MINI MATIC (WIX) RRP $14.85
You would get them from Kc cheaper than that.

[edit] Note this ^^^ is for the long Mini automatic cartridge, not the NLA short fat 1100S auto one. But someone on the MM forum found an equivalent to that one recently- if I can find the thread I'll post the info here. If Morris 1100 doesn't beat me to it.

Doc , the old one that came out of it is shorter than the 2200P .
I 'd have to modify 1 end of it as the hole is too small to go over the main bolt .

Where is Morris anyway ,he's been quiet round here lately .

You must have the big diameter 1100S canister then. Isn't the cartridge much bigger diameter than the 2200P?

I will try and find that link on MM forum.

[edit 1] you could fit a MiniMatic filter housing and canister instead, then use the Wix cartridge filters from Kc. I had one here, but it's gone now with the tranny.

[edit 2] can't find the link, however Todd Miller's Austin America site says a TR6 cartridge filter can be used. aka a Crosland 676 in USA. It's 3/8" shorter but works.
See http://www.austinamericausa.com/ scroll down to technical advice, automatic transmission. Scroll down near the bottom. He has pics & info there.

[edit 3] TR6 cartridge filter is a GFE131. Google was my friend. :P
