If anybody is interested, my dad had a heap of the Quinten Hazell type uni's made a few years ago when we needed some and couldn't get any. They also come with new u bolts and nyloc nuts. The end caps are machined from a material called delrin which is similar if not the same as the QH ones. Will post pics if anyone is interested. Cheers.

Steel cup QL5000 type joints are available made in USA.
There may be an improved Australian Made version available, soon.

The advantage of steel cups is when the U/J is worn out, you can buy a new U/J for $25 approx and refit the cups.

The QH ones weren't much cheaper, were they? When we could get them.
At least these ones you can keep the steel cones and fit a new Uni...

its been so long since I brought one new..i cannot recall.

I have since found three sets of rubber cross two second hand and four old stock and side plates for my hardie spicer set up and the early Mini stab engine steady I was looking for in the first place. I really need to sort out all my parts and write what I have in a we note book.

We decided to go for rubber unis on the Shitbox for a number of reasons, partly cost, but mostly because they are easy to fit when lying on the ground on a sandy Outback track. The nylon cap unis with the roller bearings are very nice, but when I had them on my Moke and had to replace one on a dusty Victorian high-country track, I managed to drop the roller bearings in the dirt. Took me hour to find all the bearing bits and clean them.....
