What are the largest Thrust Bearings you can use on a CooperS main

Centre. My crank has a groove in the corner and will need severe machining.

Chris, new thrust washers come in std, +.003" and +.030". The steel back of the washer can be surface ground (some) to get your desired clearance if these sizes do not do the job out of the packet.

The corner of the crank has a step in it. A big shame as the crank has standard thrusts and 10 bearings, being a genuine crank. Not sure if you can weld and grind the crank.

You would need to present the crank to the machininst along with the center main bearing cap and a set of the .030 over thrusts.

But before you get the thrusts, work out if the damage isn't too great to be machined out.

I would not get it ground right out to fit .030" thrusts, I would stop grinding when it's cleaned up, and surface grind the back of .030" thrusts to suit.
Reason- +.030" is thickest size you can get- what will you do for thrusts next time..

[edit] and if it's going to get a rev past 6000, .003" endfloat is NOT enough on a 1275. You want .005-.006" at least. I found out the hard way.
