This is usually the number of your car. It should be roughly 500 less than the number on your Compliance plate.

Eg my GT is YG2S8 910 and firewall is m2 23 412 (Or somewhere around that, I forget). So it would be the 412 GT built.

Yours being 007 means it is the 7th built, but being a 73 model to me doesn't right to me. Does it have a 1 or 2 infront of it? what are the other numbers above it?

Brenton

Well that all sounds about right. Its the seventh one built, as they are about 500 part.

Im assuming it was a "different model" mini van to the clubman vans from 71 and 72. Ie maybe a Leyland mini van NOT a clubman mini-van.

That's my theory.

Someone will tell me if I'm right/wrong

The resident Guru with these things Morris1100 doesn't hang around anymore. But im sure someone else will know.

I don't know why it isn't on the radiator shroud.. Does it look like it may have had a new inner guard or outerguard or radiator panel?

Regarding the number someone has informed me of the following, which confirms your car is the 7th mini-van of that particular model built:

Quote:
The YGBAV6R prefix finished around the start of 73 and was replaced with the 021A2V1M10 prefix around Feb/March.

From 1969 to ~Sept 1978 (end of prod) Oz Minis should all have the prefix & number stamped into the radiator shroud and it should match the compliance plate.
IMO if it is not there, the shroud/inner guard has been replaced.

Would usually only be an issue if the car was unregistered and needed to be reregistered. In most cases the rego authority would issue a new number and require it re-stamped.
