Where abouts does it fit? To the shifter or somewhere inside the actual gearbox?

Getting into 3rd with the KAD Short Shifter can be a battle at times. Seems interesting for $30.

Goes over the end of the rod into the gearbox I have discovered.

If it didnt take me 3 hours to get my rod pin back in last time, I might consider fitting one!

The barrel goes over the selector rod and the 2 "prongs" sit on either side of steady bar above. Select 3rd or 4th gear & I believe grub screws then hold the barrel fast on the selector rod. When coming out of reverse or 1st & 2nd the prongs spring load the selector rod back in line with 3rd & 4th!
Haven't fitted one yet but definately on the cards!

do they make such a thing for Remote boxes, often at hi speed/revs i have a little trouble getting 3rd gear, the lever goes towards a would be 5th gear location.

Come see me and I will give you a DrMini stronger reverse lockout detent spring (die spring).
You could also get a flip-up metal reverse lockout gate for racing, it goes on top of the remote. Not seen one lately though.

I know what you mean RE the plate, but having a gear lever boot makes this not so easy.

I have a feeling i already have your modified spring in their Doc, perhaps its gone weak...

A blue die spring can be used with the reverse light switch. Perhaps what you have now.
If you have no switch there, you can use a RED die spring (like mine)- mucho stronger!:mrgreen:

Hit up your local toolroom.
They are a 3/8 OD compression die spring (actually, they measure 9mm)- cut the length as long as possible whilst still being able to get reverse.
If you get a red spring, its bore is smaller than the `tit' on the lockout plunger- just grind that diameter down a touch so the spring fits it.
[edit] I just cut a blue spring, you need to do this mod for the blue spring too but not so much.
Cut length of the blue spring is 40mm, put the cut end UP.

If you want to use a reverse switch with the red spring, make a smaller diameter switch actuating pin up.
I have a red spring in mine, but I put a blue one in Barney and that worked fine too.
