My mini currently does 0km/h!

But still, a track is different to the open road. I'm just not a fan of small cars and highways shared by trucks, which currently is the only place you can go 110 km/h without breaking the law.

So yeah 110 on the road (which is what the moke is being complied for, not the track) is way too fast in my books. Each to their own I guess.

The 1977 London to Sydney "Coke" Moke could reach 180kph with a Cooper S engine.

I've had mine over 110 plenty of times.

I looked at their website and Choke isnt the first name that springs to mind for me...

Joke more like it.

I'll pay dues to the original Moke just fine but not this chinese bit of rubbish.

Remember that even at 40km/h, 50km/h, 60km/h, 70km/h and 80km/h which are typical "suburban" speed limits (in Sydney at least), you are still sharing the road with trucks and buses and jacked up SUVs and hundreds of other cars that are much bigger and offer much more protection than a Moke.... and then again there are thousands of motorbikes and scooters that are much smaller and offer much less protection than a Moke...

As much as I agree doing 110km/h+ in a Moke is an interesting experience, I dont think going slow in a Moke makes it any safer... LOL.

Hmmm, those motors are popping up in few things now.
I don't mind the look of these buggies:

Probably the same gearing ratio as the moke.

Thread revival..

Was visiting Vanuatu last week and we hired a Chinese Moke.

Like most cars over there it was pretty rough, felt like it was about to fall to pieces but would have had a very rough life. Looked more like a Moke than I thought it would. I think if you showed someone who hadn't seen a moke for many years they would struggle to note the differences.

The worst thing about it was that you could not see the instruments/warning lights at all without leaning right forward. Performance was weak but then it was in a bad way generally.

Heres some pics for those interested.

That looks like the one we had 2yrs ago when we were over there, hopefully the fuel guage had been fixed! It was relatively new when we had it(5k on the clock) and didn't seem too bad to drive.
