Ok so I was driving along in my mini the other day and realised the interior light was on!
It's a 77 model with the 2 selections on/door!
I pulled over and opened and closed both doors on both switch settings and it still didn't go off!
I took the globe out and haven't bothered with it for a few days.
But I went back out this afternoon and tried it again and realised the light stays on no matter what! doors shut ignition off etc.
I'm wondering what's wrong with it?
My guess is one of the switches in the back of the A pillar that the door operates.
I won't have a chance to look until next weekend so just wondering if anyone can give me some ideas?

The door switches connector the light to ground which closes the circuit. Somewhere along the line something's shorted out to ground then, start tracing it along and checking wiring.

This is a very simple system to test. You should have a permanent Power at the light and the negative comes through the door switches or by the switch on the lamp which will bring light on permanently. We already know power is present at the lamp so what you need to do is check what the switches are doing. Unscrew the two switches and make sure the wires are not touching the body. With the lamp switch in the correct position and the door switches disconnected the light should go out. If the switch on the lamp is faulty or wired up wrongly the light will stay on. If light still on unscrew the lamp from the body and see if it goes out. if it does go out it is something wrong with the switch. If it does not go out this means that there is a grounding between the lamp and the switches.
