As Watto has pointed out, the register is a 'living document' and as such should be electronic and kept on this forum. Once the register stabilizers it could then be published.

Watto

I did what you suggested earlier in the week and contacted JH in Queensland and we have exchanged Cooper S lists. You will be receiving the updates from us.

Hay is only a matter of weeks away. We may be coming (???) but in any event is it possible that at your stall you could host a list for extra Cooper Ss to be put onto the register? We will get to the magic 1000 with perseverance.

I note at the Saturday Show ‘n’ Shine there will be some open bonnets to glean as well...

Kind rgds

The MG car club don't seem to be overly concerned with posting register data. They have a register for every model. See the below link to the MGTC register.

Hi
Can anyone shed any light on a mini that was stolen in the 1970's and has N73xxxxP on the radiator support panel?
It is an s with an engine number in the year of 1967 range, any help would be great
I think the P is for police and the 73 is the year stolen and the N is for NSW
Thanks in advance

yep, that's a number issued and stamped by the NSW police, 1973 was when it was recovered and someone wanted to re-register it, not necessarily when it was stolen (sorry, being pedantic, ignore me)

what's the 4 digit number on the firewall?

The numbers on the firewall were hammered out (when the s was stolen) as far as we can see, we are still looking though, the car has some interesting history.
I found the original owners in coonamble NSW. From where it was stolen ,
Cheers

I dont think you can these days - once you could just pay a fee and they would print it off for you but privacy issues have changed that.

Some government bodies (such as police) and some insurance companies have access to the RMS databases but that access is strictly accountable and those bodies must have reason to access those details.

Depending on what exactly you want to know, you could try going to the RMS and explaining your case to a sympathetic counter clerk. They may give you some annecdotal history but you wont get any personal or specific details - it would be entirely up to the person behind the desk at the time though.

RMS are useless- recently a close relative who had lost his licence decided to fraudulently register a car in my name. When I found this out, I went to Blacktown RMS with all my personal ID to confirm it, and they lied to my face. :x
I understand privacy BS, but I found later this was on MY records for 2 weeks previous and they LIED to me.
I should have gone back and kicked up a fuss...

Yes - no doubt. At one point the RTA registary offices were the most criticised and reported state government departments because of their arrogant and intransient attitutdes.

I must say that they have worked hard to change that image and mostly they have. Some of the old culture employees are still around though. Those that arn't have got jobs as railway police !!!!!

However, there are some quite friendly and helpful RMS people behind the counters who will assist within the frame work of their restrictions. Thats how I know an annecdotal history of my mini. But some pigs still remain.

The only problem is not all the cars are officially listed as Write offs.
And thats another story all together.
Mister X lists a mini he left for dead in a paddock.
Its not reported to police or rego as written off.
Mister Y finds dead car and decides he can fix it.
Y spends thousands rebuilding said car and goes to list his restored car.
Holder of list says hang on that car was listed as dead.
There are grey area's and everyone has opinions.
Mister Y isn't a Shonk but holder of list may thing he is.
Unless a car is officially written off I wouldn't think listing cars on a register as dead is good thing. Could be a double edged sword if you know what I mean.

Time to shut my mouth.
Cheers all.

Yes I agree with this

Can anyone with a register tell me if YKG2 23664 is on the list. I have the original owners handbook which also lists engine number & rego. Originally sold in Ballarat Vic on the 28/02/68

Hi,

If you mean YKG2S2-3664 then no, it's not on the list. Would love to add it if that's OK with you. Please PM me as much detail as you have.

P.S. For those patiently awaiting publication of the Cooper S register I think it will happen in the not too distant future. Look out for an announcement from Watto.
