I have seen a few mentions of using a magnet on the oil filter to assist with picking up the odd bit of metal that may be circulating, but what size magnets are people using?

Surfing evil bay gives a million and one different sizes, mainly small ones? What size is useful?

Cheers Cj

get a pack of 25+ off ebay, you'll love how well they work on the fridge (as long as it's not stainless I guess)

Usually the stainless steel used in Appliances is such a low quality grade (such as 430) that magnets will still stick to it.

I got one of these

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Amazing-Filter-Mag-Oil-Filter-Filtermag-Reusable-Magnet-/130510710771

but at a slightly better price. Goes around about a third of the filter and is almost impossible to pluck off (watch spelling) have to slide off the end.

Hmm seems like the 20mm size is popular so after a bit of hunting around i am going to give one of these a go http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/170884987599?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649

Difference is about 1.5kg lower in max holding weight but also about 1/5th the price of similar items in Aus :?
