4mm seems a bit close for some reason the pulley is just a 1275 harmonic balancer turned down normaly don't have a problem it is still fairly close though about 10mm just enough to get a belt in. Hope it all turns out OK

could it be possible that i have a bent or warped engine mount then?

seemed fine though when we put the 1100 in?

cheers,

blake

Yer I was thinking about that and had a look at mine and a bent mount is all I could think of. This would have made it hard to get the bolts in though maybe.

bolts went in fine and all???

i will look into it further...i want to relocate the radiator to under the rear subframe using a thermo fan so that it will open up the engine bay quite a bit for more fooling around!....

but then i would have to fool around with the radiator suport steady aye?

hmmm...something more to think about now :?

it will mall come good in the end!

cheers,

blake

I will apologise in advance..... this is another LONG reply from me...

I'm sure we all like pictures though

Okay. First thing's first. THIS is what an SC12 supercharger looks like. Note the code cast into the casing above the outlet side. (this is actually the inlet side on a 4AG motor, the SC is run in reverse on a mini.)

Image Image

The tube with the yellow wing nut is the dipstick. This gets removed and replaced with a short one (long one hits the manifold). I started polishing the back of mine... whole lot will be like this eventually 8)

Image

BELOW x3 - This is what it all looks like when fitted. Much easier to see without the radiator there....

Image
Image
Image

BELOW - My supercharger has a modified pulley - the clutch has been removed and the drive has been locked with a custom mounting plate. I might use the cluch at a later date. My finger is pointing to the tension pulley adjusment bolt. Easy to get to when all assembled.

Image

BELOW x3 - you can see where the carb will sit in relation to the blower.

Image
Image
Image

BELOW - Yep, the back is polished. Pity I cant hold my hand still  ... The carb will be right THERE

Image

BELOW - The engine stabiliser bar goes between the pulley and the radiator, over the belt, and uses the subframe tower bolts as mounting points.

Image

BELOW - These 2 lugs need to be completely removed to help clear the bonnet. They are not needed.

Image

BELOW - The bottom lugs are kept. They are used to stabilise the tension pulley arm.

Image

BELOW x2 - the exhaust manifold will require a little surgery to fit. The inlet manifold mounting flanges use the whole bolt to locate the supercharger and keep it SQUARE to the drive belt.

Image Image

Finally, there is LOTS of room between my crank pulley and the engine mount. At least 12mm gap here.

Image

Yeah, so there you go. Lots of polishing for me to do now.... and I might make a couple small modifications to the setup..... Pity I dont have a motor in my shell to give you some bulkhead clearance photos.... maybe someone will beat me to it.

And before anybody asks.... NO that is not the head I will be using. Just a crappy 998 Smog head on there for photo puposes - my 12G940 $$$$ head is not ready yet.... This engine (1310) is yet to be stripped down for a full rebuild / diff change / pot joints / maybe straight cut gears / new paint, etc etc.... I have a bad feeling the rings on cylinder 3 are not looking too good.....

So thats what I did on my long weekend - I had some fun playing with my toys. Didnt even go out the front gate ONCE this weekend

Thanks for the pics SC, First pic looks like the supercharger is a little man or something haha..

It might help if you used TWO hands to keep the camera still ;)

Normally I use the tripod - but I got somewhat excited while assembling it all... just rushed in and took some pics.

Its all back in boxes now.....

Nathan, you never cease to amaze us with the shaping of the SC1310.
I can see, when its finished, its gonna be a real ripper.
Straight cuts would be nice :)

If this is right, why are people ripping them off Toyota MR2s etc and fitting turbos instead?

because people with mr2's want to go faster than what they already can (just like mini owners). and turbocharging is the next up with increased boost and making power out of waste

but what would i know, mine's NA
