This like a mini owner's honeymoon period. It won't take long to realise however!

My tag line has already been mentioned. SWMBO complains about the space it occupies but begrudges the time I spend on it - 44 years and I still don't understand the woman I married

For me it's more a case of restricting my spending on the mini rather than her saying i'm not allowed. She doesn't seem to mind when i buy parts to repair / replace stuff that needs fixing. That's probably why my car is still running a mild 1098 and not a wild twinky turbo motor :P

After promising me every Tuesday I have off to work on it she still finds jobs that needs doing "now" or "would be nice to have finished by the weekend " before such and such. So NO it's not running yet

I am one more car off a divorce.

I will have to choose wisely,

Tweed grey Mk1 Morris Cooper S 1275, in original condition would do it. Lucky they are rare in NZ, LOL

Mine cracked the sh!ts about throwing away money on an old car instead of buying a new one like everyone else. Then I bought her a fancy handbag and some expensive leather shoes. Turns out bragging rights with her girlfriends exceeds her need to bag me out about my pastime. My wife really likes clothes and shopping - what are the odds?!

Nowadays, a useful strategy is to remind her how frugal I am (e.g. no gambling, minimal booze, etc as mentioned by others) and that I look after the family first. I also make a point of converting my purchases into terms she understands, e.g. "This exhaust cost the same as those scatter cushions, but it is actually useful!" Case closed 8)

Oh, my wife knows most of it.
She can't say anything though, not after I had to clear the debt on her credit cards.

Yeah she knows, but our only (current) runner is most definitely her mini, so as long as it gets it's share of the love, there's no problems spending on the project.
