Happy to pay, have you extended an offer to business locally and the uk for support in exchange for advertising banners and or a section on the forum where they can advertise there specials and services?

Sorry for the outage, just updated the forum again to the latest version. the work goes on, but I am not so crash hot at phpbb3, but I am getting better...

I have updated the rules slightly to allow for posts such as GR's (his new crankshafts). I feel its reasonable to allow a business to put up a plug for something of value to the Mini community as a whole, something new, but the forum is a lightweight one, and I feel it is not really the place for advertisement lists for parts in a large scale. Matt Read does so for his twinkies, Convertible for his starters, GR for his engine mods, etc etc. Just not vast part lists and prices.

I might look at a more professional version of the mini business thread to allow you guys to place a business graphic (business card) image. Watch this space.

Mick,
Any thoughts on my suggestion? As you see there are a lot of people on here who appreciate you efforts and you guys shouldn't be funding this thing on you own. Perhaps a star or something that represents being a financial member isn't such a bad idea. Personally I don't need a sticker, but would like to contribute.

From previous experience on another forum site, opening up to businesses for payments opened up a can of worms and led to a completely new version of the site spawning......

Its your choice either way......you guys decide and let us know how you want to do this.

And thanks, it is very appreciated.

looking at the Paypal donations option, fees can become excessive. Though the micropayments option could be interesting https://www.paypalobjects.com/IntegrationCenter/ic_micropayments.html

I'm in - totally. Pretty sure you can send a paypal "gift" payment and it doesn't cost too much (if at all). Just need one Admin/Moderator with a Paypal account, they collect the funds and distribute to those involved/make payments etc.

But I also think donations should be $what you can afford as opposed to a requested amount. It sh*ts me when charities ask for a donation, then make it a minimum amount. I'm happy to donate to worthy causes, but not when I'm "expected" to or made to feel guilty into pay a certain amount.

If stickers are an option, woohoo! I'd buy 2 - until I get more mini's that is, lol!

Frankly, I think that ten dollars is too cheap. The costs of running these forums is a lot higher than some people imagine. Especially when large numbers of people start appearing for the free info...

I'd like to see a regular sticker sale and something else to encourage those who can afford a little more? :D

We have had this discussion recently http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=82364&start=45

Cost of donations vary through Paypal depending on account type, one is better for sub$12 the other is better for above $12 donations. Depends how much you want to give to Paypal for their service.

I've managed to get a script in on the forum, I'm getting the hang of this phpbb code internets thingy. There's a donate button up the top right next to the search. Every coin you throw in has been channeled down so it hits the hamster directly on the head. If paypal gives you the irrits, and you really want to play a part, then just drop me a PM.

Like I have said, the forum is not a huge burden, the best contributions are the advice which keeps our cars going.
Stickers are awesome however, and I will crack on and get them organised.

Cheers

Mick

it should be there, top (your) right, next to FAQ and Search?
Maybe it might need a Cntrl-F5 cookie clear to show it.
