Hi Shane,

A number of really nice guys around Geelong who are right into their minis.

There's a monthly eating club down that way with those same people too, with an impeccable choice in restaurants!

Mick

Hi my name is Jeremy, I'm from Lilydale and we have a supercharged 1970 MKII 'S' and an original 1962 850.
I have been looking around on Ausmini for years and tried joining last year but after about 5 tries, no replies and 3 months I gave up.
After all of the big changes here I decided to try again and it worked straight away. All good now. :)

I don't know where I went but I'm back. :)

I have a '62 850 that's been 'well sorted' according to its previous owner which means I have heaps to do, 'sorting it properly'. At least the shell is relatively rust free.

Hi every one

My name is David, but usually get called Dave. I have been involved with Minis off and on for the past 40 odd years when my parents purchased a 62 Tartan Red 850, later getting my license in it some years later different colour, engine , box you know the deal!

Getting married, having two sons, still had an interest in the Mini, I purchased a 71 burst proof door K when my boys were small but still wanted that S. Not long after that I did purchase that S a genuine matching number 70 Model MarkII in Baltic Blue.

Times became hard a couple of years later when I became unemployed so the cars had to go, but still had the interest.

That brings me to now. My eldest son (19) about a year ago says I want to buy a car, I say what for (he is vision impaired and unable to drive), I want a mini like you had and Mum and you can drive me around. it's a chick magnet as well as being cool!

Since January this year, initially he was the one with the car, 67 Deluxe, warm 1100, S brakes and genuine flares, twin tanks etc. Just getting ready for makeover with 1310 and some further period tasteful accessories.

As usual with Mini's it just goes on and gets bigger as we now have a extra addition to the family, a genuine matching No very late 68 Mark 1 S in pieces to restore. Paint garbage, body exceptionally straight with NO rust and been in dry storage for many years. Now just need the the next couple of years off so I can restore it, I wish!!!

So there you have it. Will be doing a lot of reading and probably asking for lot of advice and help!

Thanks Dave

Hi everyone
Mike from Toowoomba here registering again, went on holiday and couldn't remember my username LOL. Recently bought a 62 Mini 850 original condition. We are going to do a bare metal restoration as soon as we can and keep it looking very original.

Hi all,

My name is Steve, I live in Northwest Sydney, I have actually been stalking this forum on the daily for about 4-5 years but have had numerous difficulties establishing an account so I gave up! When the new forum was created I tried again and here I am! :D

I bought a 65 MKI Cooper S about 7 years ago now, was driving around for a couple of years and then pulled it off the road in 2009 to do a nut and bolt resto. The information I have gained stalking this forum has been fantastic and has probably stopped me from making numerous silly and time consuming errors.

When I bought the car it was in relatively good condition, not too much rust and certainly nothing requiring major body work. I was actually not convinced that it was a genuine cooper s until I took it to Glen Carpenter (Brisvegas) who assured me it was genuine. It was at that point I decided to restore it.

So... currently I am in the final stages (Sort of). I stripped it to a bare shell and had it soda blasted and all minor rust repairs done (mainly around the windscreen). I had it re- sprayed I the original BRG with a toga white roof. Both sub frames were powder coated and built up with all new bits whilst waiting and waiting and waiting for the painter to finish! I have essentially replaced or rebuilt everything underneath, with a conversion to coil springs and fully adjustable geometry front and rear. Mini sport alloy calipers to the front and superfine on the rear.

Currently GR has the motor and it is being built up for the addition of an eaton supercharger.. I note previous issues with this kit from other threads so GR has had the inlet manifold redesigned as to not restrict the flow like the conversion kit manifolds, an I am considering putting a weeber on as not to have a long inletintothe supercharger to reduce the cance of condensation build up.

Anyway, still waiting on GR for the motor. He is a great bloke and never minds me calling up and asking questions. Can't speak highly enough of him. I will post some pictures of the build which I have collated over the years when I get them all together.

Look forward to being more active I the forum. Thanks for reading

Cheers

Steve
