1980 to 1983 marked as B L CARS LTD, 1988 to 1999 marked as ROVER GROUP LIMITED so yours must be inbetween?

Ash.

Here is mine. Possibly makes mine a 1983 model?

Exactly what I just done, sent off to heritage-motor-centre.co.uk I will let them do the search and they supply a letter of authenticity only cost about $45, not much to pay when I could save $500.

Hi Davo, going off the last digits of your vin number compared to our two rovers,
Our early rover is a may 87 car and was built about 24000 earlier than yours,
And our later rover is a April 88 car and was built about 13000 after yours, so if you used the vin numbers from our two cars that is estimating about 37000 over the 11 months between our 2 cars and yours being in between, I believe your car is approx a December 87. Anyway I hope it is for your sake re the rego. All the best

Thats fantastic mate, but the powers to be, at VMCI! need written and documented proof, its costing me money to play their game, its not as if I am trying to rip anyone off, I had a strange feeling I was within the guidelines of the legislation, but I have to comply with their request, even if I have to supply 2 roadworthys within 35 days, very frustrating ;-) ;-)

Yeah, I got told of the boot lock, but mine is missing the 3rd number for some reason, but hopefully the letter will be back pretty quick, fingers crossed.

Hope it does arrive in the next few days David.

For what it's worth, we all have our fingers crossed for you.

It just arrived and I got 3 days left on the R/W! so I gotta take a trip out to see the registrar for the club and get the paperwork signed,

What I found out is the car was manufactured by Austin Rover from parts manufactured in the U.K. At the LONGRIDGE Factory in Birmingham on the 14th January, 1988 so all is correct to go ahead, so most of the info given to me has been SPOT ON and this just confirmes it, so thanks to all who showed a little interest, the chat room wins again.....

All done, I nearly dropped dead at Vic Roads, got the rego done and collected the club plates, and instead of paying $679 for the privilege of driving the car for a dozen or so days a year, the lovely lady behind the counter only asked me for $69.................now that deserves a celebration drink or 2, glad its all finalised, and thanks to Pottsy for todays efforts, much appreciated....;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)

No probs Dave. Was nice to put a face to the name.

We aim to please, and stay within the rules at the same time.

Thanks for your patience.

Cheers, Pottsy
