Pretty sure they are, but the question is, what are you using them for? If you have a track car and want to drive it to the track, great! But for a road car you would probably be better off looking at A008s. They still have decent grip and wear speeds, and are still pretty good in the wet. A032s will be great on the road on dry days, but they'll wear much quicker, and I can't vouch for how they handle wet weather.

Yes they are legal. Mine and many other minis run them but as said, expect < 10,000 miles on them apparently. A008's last 3-4 times longer or more

I rate them as a really good wet weather tyre. Yes they are road legal, but as others have said they wear quick. I also find them noisy (they drone/hum at certain speeds) which may not be what you want for a road car

Just 10,000? You do mean miles right? Not Ks? Because on that basis, the amount of driving i would be doing, ferrying mom around on her job would mean i'd have to change tires...7 times in one year. :shock:

I run them and depending on how I drive I get 5,000 to 10,000 miles out of them. They don't last very long but they are grippy!

I've done about 27,000kms on my A008s and there's still plenty of meat left. If you're really going to be doing 100,000+ km per year, then don't go with the A032s. Actually, if I were doing that amount of mileage, I probably wouldn't go with a mini either!

Very true. I meant 70,000 K's per year. Not miles. Still, you're right. I plan on fitting a more reliable engine though. haven't decided yet but i'm going to stick with a flip front clubman, if not normal clubman so i have a little more room to play around with. Im surprised that very few people have made a mazda rotary conversion though. those things are tiny and the output is monumental. 200+bhp from an NA 1.3 as stock? Yes please...I know you'd have to fit a normal gearbox, not transverse but there is enough room theoretically.

In QLD when fitting different engines, there is an engine capacity and vehicle weight rule, or something like that. Without going into it too much, basically you can't register a rotary in a mini, although you might get by with a 10A. So even if you can register a 10A and squeeze it in it's a monumental hassle. If you really want a rotary, just get a mazda.

Blasphemy! I can't believe you can say that. You have minis in your blood and you say that if you want a specific engine, why not just get the car it was in...I want to put a rotary in because it is rare to see them in minis. I'm all about being unique when it comes to that. Even though there would be some others who have rotaries, mine would stand out. I want that and i want that in a mini.

Still, i don't want to go the usual B series VTEC or whatever because it's reliable. I want to put in a reliable engine that isn't a common engine. That said, thats a couple of years off as there are power, aspiration, and capacity laws for P platers. I was planning on a twin cam for starters then supercharging it when i was aloud to drive it. Not that i would need the power of course but one can never have too much. :lol: Still, I am happy to report that in all the years my family has had minis, several have been very reliable. One of which, Scrumpy(he was apple jack green when we bought him)had at least 5 engines in. 3 of which my dad had built from scratch. The only reason they had to be replaced was because my mother has a special ability of blowing them up. I plan to take the engine my mini comes with completely apart, give it a clean inside and out and then put it back together again with whatever modifications i decide on. Just to be sure there are no niggly little things that cause it to damage itself when running. You never know. It's a big ask of a mini engine but i will service it every 5000 Ks anyway.
