I've been checking my timing.
I have a dial back timing light. When I watch the timing mark at idle every now and then the mark jumps from it's correct position to what looks about 12 degrees early.
It's not in addition to the correct spot ie I don't see a flash of 2 marks only the incorrect one.
Unless it's my imagination I'm sure I can hear the "miss" during idle when this occurs.
But here's the weird part. I thought I would advance the light to see how many degrees the odd "fire" is at and as I advance the light the correct mark moves away (as you'd expect) but the odd flash stays in the same spot??
Electronic ignition installed not points
Any ideas on whats going on??
Cheers
EDIT: OK I just worked out the odd mark is a normal flash of zero degrees, so I guess the timing lights "advance" feature is playing up.
