If you are happy with draining the oil first you can do it another way.
In the first post i have a couple photos to help see what i mean. I just lift the motor up a little bit, pop 1 joint out of the diff and swing the motor away so you can pull it all the way out and let it hang down, then repeat for the other side. I fit the engine the same way, dropping it back until you can get 1 pot joint started, and push the motor into the driveshaft to pop it in and repeat the other side.
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=78484I will say though, there is a possibility you will struggle to get them all the way out/in and it may end up quicker to go the long way. Once you know what your doing it's pretty quick though, especially because you don't even need to take the wheels off. Infact the only reason to jack the car up is to undo the exhaust and gearchange, and maybe slide your crane under the car depending on the design.
