Welcome patdrake,
Where in Brisbane are you from. Maybe we can help each other out with our builds!

Hey Pat, I'm on the Northside in Albany Creek. Whereabouts are you?

I'll be putting photos of my mini up shortly in the Members rides area (or whatever it's called... still new to this forum thing). I've only had the car a total of 48 or so hours and already have a zillion questions!

Hi Pat you should find those numbers stamped into the body just above the radiator

Cheers Bill

Thanks Bill I'll have a look for it asap.
Hopefully it's original like the rest of the car

I have officially given up trying to upload a photo. Hopefully my descriptions will paint a good picture. Frustrating.

Think I've worked it out.

I bet my two daughters would have worked it out in 3 seconds

Cheers pat. Got there in the end. This is how I bought the car this weekend. The guy included a set of polished 10 inch jellybeans which will be going on shortly Also planning on putting chequer board panels on roof.
It's a sweet car.

Hi Folks - I'm Peter on the Sunshine Coast in QLD. My first car was a '67 Deluxe (wrapped it 'round a tree doing handbrake 'boot-legger' turns). Then a '68 1100 with a shot motor. I bought a motorkhana buggy I was told had once been Australian champion and put the motor in my road car for a while, then my Dad (bless 'im) gave me $2500, which was a couple of hundred short of what I needed to buy Min in 1981. She was apparently ex-Bathurst, ex-police blah blah, and was fitted with twin 1.75" SUs - the only performance items I could see. We've been together ever since (cue violins). I did the full refurbishment/mechanicals/1380/complete strip and paint in '86, and over the next couple of decades gradually added/replaced/put back what I had before/and you know the drill - never just leave it alone and drive it! Apart from CSI dissy all the mods are period. She's not very user-friendly and I like her that way. We usually get home without too much drama, and I enjoy the reactions from people of all shapes and sizes - amazing how many people have had a mini at some time.

I've also had bikes, the last was a KTM 950 Supermoto - and the 'other woman' is a '93 S-class Benz, just might be the 2nd best car in the world, but feels like a well-upholstered aircraft carrier after driving Min.

I believe in having fun, but not endangering others. My time and energies are limited by having Parkinsons, (cue violins again), but nearly everybody has something to struggle with, so get in, belt up, hit the starter and let's go embarrass the heck out of the modern, high tech, electroplasmagorical world. They may be saving the lesser spotted mainland dingbat, and emitting less noxious gas than the collective flatulence of an ant colony.....but we'll be the ones with wide eyes, dirty fingernails and the knowledge that nothing but a 22b can catch us through a roundabout, and nothing (legal) can deliver the smiles per kilometre that our ridiculous, magnificent little flying bricks can. And when bricks are flyin', you'd better climb on board, or get out of the way! :D

That looks awesome, hope you didn't have to sell your kidney to afford it in that condition. Looks like mine but yours is a much nicer colour!

Mate would you believe I paid $4350! The guy bought it for his wife who after 2 drives didn't like it. The husband is a big V8 fan and hates the mini. He was happy to see it go. But he did the whole restoration himself. He did a great job. I have looked at minis in worse condition for $2000 more. Right time right place

No rego or RWC but it's getting tested this Friday There is nothing wrong with it. Last owner put it through RWC in July to register it and it passed no problems.
That's a good price for yours though. I looked at a 1275 recently that was rotten under doors and boot and he wanted $6500.
I will post a photo when I put the wheels and chequers on it.

G'day all,
My name's Josh. I was a member a while ago when I had purchased a '64 850 project that never took off and was eventually sold.
I have now returned and hopefully this week will be picking up my '74 Leyland Mini S which has a 1275, twin SUs, mild cam, extractors and such. Interior has had some tasteful mods. Also fitted with 12" mini lifes (or copies). Will post up some pics once I have her.

Cheers.

(P.S. Also just scored myself a 76 print genuine Leyland workshop manual)
