Picked up my first Mini today..
I've been lurking on this great forum for about a week now, getting loads of tips and helpful information and thought I would kick off my first post with the new car..
I'm not real car savvy and don't know a huge amount about this car other than it being a 1974 Clubman.
She drives great! Although the drum brakes in this horrid Melbourne weather are frightening!

Having a few issues with VIC Roads over the correct VIN Number...
By the looks of it the car and the mechanic that did the roadworthy are right and their system is wrong.
However they seem to excel in wasting people's time.....

Anyway, here she is...

Not really sure Mick..

It's in really good nick... Seems to be pretty stock, although I wouldn't mind upgrading a few things.
Runs well and seems to kick over without any hassle..

Its a real sleeper as it is, nothing wrong with a few upgrades however!

What's your thoughts so far? Brakes/engine upgrades?

Well, disc brakes on the front are right up on the list..
Electronic ignition seems like a good idea.
Anything to ensure its reliability would be a plus.

It does need a stereo in it.
I read a great post on here about working a 998 engine which was interesting..
I love how some Mini owners are right into working a 998 rather than just putting a 1275 in it!

To be quite honest though, I've really got no idea!!

Hi mitchcairns,

Congrats on the purchase! I notice you are in Yarraville, so am I, there are a few mini's getting around our neighborhood if you keep a keen eye out. Mine is stuck in a garage in Geelong but will soon be released. Where did you go for your roadworthy? Where they reasonable?

Thanks! I have seen a few around there...
The guy I bought the car off had the roadworthy done.
The mechanic that did it was really picky, which is good for me, but a little frustrating for the guy that sold it to me.
