I delivered ROO to EDI (shipping broker) in Brisbane for the ocean travel to Canada.

ROO is onboard the Bosporus Highway, a newer RoRo vessel and currently headed to Yokohama. ROO will get across the north Pacific to Vancouver late January.

ROO will go to work here as our club, meet, event Mini until the '62 Countryman is finished. First trip to Lexington, Ohio for the 55th Anniversary Can-Am Mini Challenge Races, then on to Mini Meet East Meets West (continental Mini Meet) in Wisconsin, before heading west to home!

Thanks for the good wishes Matt!

We are both heart survivors and moving on. The "lovely little" Mini you described is coming to a new home in Canada. If you follow, I'll toss you the keys for a drive about!

Best wishes at Christmas and for the New Year!

Sorry to report I received this in an email message on the Board:

"Should be against the Law to allow you Blow Ins To come and Take our Cars out of the Country

Like my comment or not I don't care...................Keep your hands off our Cars
."

I believed that a "Plain Jane" Clubman Window Van was not a vital part of Australia's motoring heritage. Yes, it was an unabused, low mileage Van in good condition. However it was not a run-out model, any sort of special edition, let alone an "S".

However, I apologize for any insult that may have been felt on this "export" and reaffirm my invitation for Board members to rely on me, if coming to British Columbia, as I have relied on Members of the Mini Owners Club of Queensland from day 1.

There's enough vintage foreign cars coming here to offset that clubman I think. And it's technically staying in the commonwealth anyway.

I can't understand it. The van is going to a very home where it will be respected and loved.

It is not like it is getting trashed with a Toyota motor conversion.

G'day Rick & Elaine ,
I wouldn't be too concerned about the email , you have done more than enough by coming over here , purchasing , repairing and participating in some great adventures with that nice little van , was a pleasure to have met you both whilst on the Rylstone Classic .

Don't feel bad about taking Roo home with you , those that have met you both will know that you will look after him , All the best for Xmas & new year .

I second the sentiment above (although I'll stop short of Morris' Toyota motor comment).
Yours to do with as you please, and I think you have contributed enough to the Oz mini community and on here, to have earned that right.

Safe Travels!

Kevin

Don't let knobs like that worry you Rick. It's your car, you can do with it what you like. I think it's really cool that you are taking it home. A RHD Clubman van will certainly turn heads at Cannuck events.

It makes me boil when people go on like that. If they feel like that how about they buy up every Mini that hits the market so it won't go overseas.

Both of my Minis are UK imports that have been here since the sixties. Maybe this idiot thinks I should send them back! :x

Rick you are doing a great thing by helping preserve one of these great cars. Who cares where on the globe it is as long as it exists and people get to enjoy it.

I keep looking world wide for the one particular car I am after and if I ever find it I won't be worried about bringing it home.

Keep enjoying the buzz

CJ

Vans with a clubman style front were completly unique to Australia. What better car to represent the Australian designed and built mini to overseas enthusiasts. I'm sure it will generate a lot of interest.

Most Australians don't even realise the mini was built here.

So Brad from EDI is the one who imports a few minis from Japan and puts massive prices on them? I recognise the house and phone booth from the Carsales adverts. If I am right he is currently advertising a Paul Smith mini for $19k.
