Sadly after 30+ years of having my Cooper S registered with contessa wheels it has finally been failed for registration this morning?????
This same service station has been doing my pink slips for the past 10 years? I am some what not happy!
The tyres are protruding past the flare guards?
I am now looking for a new rego inspection station on the north shore

That sucks big time. One of the bonus' of living in WA no annual inspections.

If the tread is covered at top, in NSW that's legal. Tell em they're dreamin'...

I run Contessas + A008s with Inno flares, never had a problem here.

Fit different wheels. Pass Rego. Refit contessas. :)

I think NSW is the only state that still does annual inspections.

I find it a total nonsense that a car I have been getting inspected and passed for the past 34 years is now failed? The car has been registered in both ACT and NSW and always with the same contessa wheels, but different tyres throughout the years.
I just think some one has lost the plot! And it's not me

Only in NSW!

Someone needs to approach Roads and Maritime and tell them to get rid of this anti-Mini annotation in their computers.

You can bet the inspection stations are told to "look out for these dangerous tyres poking out from Minis"....what a crock

Damn :!: Now I need to go lie down to settle my BP

They are not picking on you. Get over it.

Fit the tyres under the guards just like every other car on the road has to. It is quite simple.
Just because you have gotten away with it in the past is no excuse.

WADR Mozza, they are, there are numerous example of far more exposed and far more dangerous tyre types (Mickey Thompson etc) capable of pinching or chucking bloody big goolies around that are just allowed...its a schemozzle

If the tyres are outside the guard they are not allowed.
It doesn't matter what brand of car it is the rules are the same.

I can just picture some bloke on a Hi-Lux forum having the same rant about getting knocked back and trying to make it right by pointing out all the (illegal) Minis and Mokes with their tyres hanging out past the guards.

Bit of a victimless crime though.

Mine are a mile out, hoping the carbon fibre bumpers will distract them.

till your child gets an eye taken out by a passing car flicking a stone out of its tread.... you can't have a level of tolerance on something like this, if it's sticking out, it's sticking out. If yours sticks out 1/2", then why can't the monster 4wd have his sticking out 3"

Whoa that sucks , perhaps they mistook it as being april fools rather than christmas .... ahhh wasnt there a toe-in/toe-out trick for it ? , regaurdless find a new service station .

What we need here is ausmini's mechanics with buisnesses start doing roadworthy checks in each state at least they know classic mini's , if im going to fail a roadworthy inspection at least it would be for a legitament reason.

Michael,
You hardly ever drive it. Put it on club plates, with a club that doesn't count rivets or check hose clamp dates.. eg the Sprite club. Bonus- no pink slip needed, just the registrar's check. Works for me...
