 Post subject: Brakes - whats needed ?

as most of you all know i'm restoring a moke with a daihatsu sirion engine,

i have removed the single brake master and will be fitting a dual brake master,

can anyone tell me if i need a bias valve or which is the best way to run things ? ( keeping in mind the standard brake switch on the front subframe isnt there as the subframe is modified),

do i run the brake line straight from the master to the rear ?

any help would be much appreciated

If you're running the dual circuit master cylinder then you'll need the proportion valve thing I guess. The two lines from the master go into the valve, usually attachged to the firewall, and from there one goes to the back wheels, one to the front.

Not certain how Moke brakes were plumbed but if you are using a dual master then one line (lower) will feed the front the other line (upper) the rear.

You will also need the brake inertial valve on the rear subframe and smaller bore rear brake cylinders if you are going to disc brakes up front.

The inertial valve works to reduce rear brake pressure under heavier braking as the nose dives so that the rear brakes do not lock up. With front discs the rears will likely lock up unless you at least use the S rear wheel cylinder with 5/8"/0.625" piston.

Moke knowledgeable folks can confirm/correct this info.

sounds good, that means i dont need to buy the proportional valve, i just use my standard rear moke one :)
