Just got my Rego renewal for the mini. VicRoads has done away with rego stickers and the price is lower than last year.
Seems that as of 1st Jan, stickers not required on light vehicles under 4.5t.

God you guys are living in the past.

Us over here in the west haven't had stickers for a few years now.

Its great cause you always forget to rego your car then get done for driving an unlicensed vehicle..

Does that mean you can peel off the current label even if your rego is not due for a couple of months, my label is half off anyway, it didn't seem to stick properly last year.

Printed on the back of my renewal...

"From 1 January 2014 they are no longer required to be issued or displayed for all light vehicles (under 4.5 tonnes), including motorcycles and trailers."

I take that to mean that you can peel away, my friend.

yep your right, peel away. except if your on club rego, I think its still part of the requirement, will investigate that bit, stay tuned.

Yep I was right, club permit rego label must still be displayed, at least that is what Vic Roads site is still saying, so dont let Mr. Plod use his disgression as most of them don't have the faintest idea about club rego's. so just leave them on to be on the safe side.

No rego stickers in SA for quite some time now. Lots of people caught driving unreg and 3rd party uninsured cars, many at intersections with number plate reading cameras. State Govt is raising penalty to $2,500 to act as stronger deterent. Even the SA Police are saying this is excessive fine for a first offence.

Or leave the old sticker in place because it has the relevant date to remind you to renew.

NSW sends you and email (or two) reminding you of the date...

Cheers, Ian

I have put my renewal date on the front page of my Log Book minus 1 month, and on my phone, so hopefully it should be all sweet.

they'll still send a letter!

I believe all police patrol cars are fitted that can read, identify and flag up to 38 registration numbers per second

In Vic you still get the renewal certificate, same as before, it just doesn't have the sticker.

That's the same in NSW also. We still need labels for club (CRS) registered cars. In NSW at least, it was illegal to peel an old label off before expiry I thought, so I would caution that unless you get that clarified. Your renewal notice for this year will not have a sticker on it though unless club rego.
