Hey Guys,

Dan - Actually there was quite a bit of room left over - maybe one more Mini??

JC - We got the E30 for basically nothing (cost of getting it to my place) - which was a massive bonus. Going to put a M60B40 BMW V8 into it, 6-speed, LSD out of a 540i, custom paint (BMW Marakesh Brown and BMW Dakar Yellow combo), custom interior (nothing ricer, just nice tan leather, Nakamichi stereo etc)...

In the end, going to use it as a promo for the business alongside El Gato.

Cheers,
Tricky

Why a BMW V8? The x5 I had had that v8. It was cheaper to replaced the entire engine ($5k) than it was to to the head gaskets!

Love the concept buy would you consider an alternate v8? Say the lexus v8? Those things are an awesome motor, are cheap and can be mated to a Supra 6sp easily.

Hey JC,

Looked into putting another brand of V8 in there, but in the end wanted to keep it all BMW - nothing wrong with the 1UZFE engine though. Can get a M60B40 for around $850-1000 in reasonable condition with reasonable k's.

Hey MF - cheaper to buy the M60B40 engine, than anything to do with M3!! If its got an 'M' badge on it, the price goes up - whether new or second hand. While the I6 in the E46 M3 puts out more HP than the V8 in the 540i/740i etc, it is way down on torque to the V8, and only weighs a few kilo's less - and its about 3x the price of the V8.

Plus, I dont want to make it a M3 wannabe - I want t to be a BMW E30 340i!!! Good suggestions though!

Cheers,
Tricky

Hi Mate,

Yes, the shed is coming along well. Still have heaps to do of course to get it to where I want it, but at the moment the deficiencies dont interfere with its functionality

I know, sad isnt it!! So much going on at the moment. But there is stuff happening in the background - driveshafts are being made as we speak, so that is a big milestone. Will have to start putting some hours into it as there isnt a huge amount to be done to get it running.

Thanks for the prompt!!!!

Cheers,
Tricky

Dont worry i am in the same boat. Finally getting a concrete driveway to our garage is one thing, let alone being back to work after the holidays aswell as a daughter that is deciding to go through her terrible 2's early. Life is a bunch of fluffys at the moment haha.

I'm about to build a new shed and wondered how big you shed was and the layout. Just to give me some ideas.

Hey Blunder,

Mine is 12m x 12m. It is an American barn style, with the centre section at around 5m. It has a loft at one end in the centre, at 4m x 3m, and the side walls are 3m. It is big enough for me, anymore room and it would start getting untidy and become a magnet for sh!t if you know what I mean! I have divided it up into 3 sections, with the middle section (centre bay) containing the hoist, the left section contains the 'dirty' stripdown area, and the right section the 'clean' rebuild section. At the rear is the machining room and paint store.

I can send pics if you like.

Gordo, according to Toyodiy there is no seperate part number for the tripot joint, it comes as a complete joint set (43403).
EP82:

EP91:

Just remember if its LSD it has a diffrent part number, as I showed you the joints are different They also might be different bewteen manual and auto too.

Have a play with Toyodiy yourself, and see what you come up with:

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Tricky

I wish Kenno, but clients cars come first, and then stuff for the shed comes next in the spare time, add into that time for the kids, wife, sport etc etc - not enough hours in the day!!

But, yes, I really need to get at least something done on him!!

Cheers,
Tricky
