hey guys just wanted more info on nsw club rego or conditional registration.
thinking of putting my clubby on it but everyone tells me something different.
Also anyone know if there is any clubs in Wollongong that do club rego?

I'm with the Sprite Club, here are their rules.

All clubs here in NSW pretty much adhere to this list. Many require a pink slip inspection annually.

The MCCNSW have a few extra rules they've added to suit themselves..

Lots of clubs in Wollongong are affiliated with the scheme and most require you to attend a number of their events each year. Look into each one and find the one that suits you. Remember though, the scheme limits you to driving your car on sanctioned events only. You can't just jump in the car and take it for a spin.

I agree NO, you can't go do the shopping in it at Coles, etc or just `go for a fang in the hills'.

[edit] Some clubs are more anal about their particular rules, that's why I'm not in them.

If you are alluding that the MCCNSW is bad, then please don't what happened with Club plates year ago, isn't what happens now. The person that did cause havoc has nothing to do with it.
The MCCNSW only has a few extra rules that are easy to follow. The main one is attending 3 MCCNSW events a year with your Club plated car. Which of course should be pretty easy as you are only supposed to use the car for club events or events listed in the magazine and or day book.

It's disheartening to see people alluding to the club being rubbish for one reason or another, yet when you ask them when they last attended anything it was years ago. Kev, please don't cause issues when there is none to speak of anymore. what happened in the past by people in the past, is not what what is the reality now. :wink:

I'm looking to change mine over. Does anyone know how does it work for people from further flung parts of NSW for inspections and such? Will they accept inspections from a qualified member of the ACT MCC for example? Its a question for Mr Burns but I thought I would ask it here.

Of course, if you're too far out for club runs, then its not really an eligible idea, but am keen to use mine for further out events such as Hay, a day at Winton, or a southern run.

Mick, I'm in the same boat as you. It is not practical for me to attend 3 club events each year because of the distance. Therefore I am not eligible to be a part of the scheme. I asked about this and that was the response I received. What I didn't get an answer on was, if I was to attend 3 or more Minis In The Gong events (they are listed on the MCCNSW register) each year, would I still be eligible?

Aaron, if you could get this answered for me that would be fantastic.

whats club rego cost these days is it that much cheaper to make it worth it?

Conditional rego cost $62 + CTP which is based on vehicle shape, usage and area of operation. I'm not sure what the cost of CTP is, but it certainly is cheap enough to make it worth it. Most insurance companies (shannons, NRMA Classic) also offer a cheaper insurance for club plated cars as they are on the road less.

Aaron, I am not picking on the MCC particularly, just pointing out that various other clubs have their rules too. Some are liberal in their approach, others are not. Some add their own rules, others do not. My brother has 2 non-Minis on the historic scheme with 2 other clubs, and they are like chalk and cheese.

If it is in the magazine it qualifies. Which is why they added the minis in the gong runs into the magazine. Ask you you generally receive.
Three events is easy.
1. Club plate and xmas party _ Courdeux dam, which is closer to you than me!
2. There is always a run to Wollongong show and shine
3. One run to Sydney. - All british, Gannons, Eastern creek etc etc etc. These aren't even single club events and most people go to at least one.

Fact is, the runs in Wollongong listed in the magazine all count. So it isn't like you would be hard pressed to make up three runs.
But, to make the effort to come down to support a Sydney event as do some of the members supporting the Wollongong events is what it is all about.

Now I am not on committee, nor am I the club plate guy (who by the way lives closer to Wollongong than Sydney, and is a really good bloke) So best to clarify by reading the rules on the link above. If you you're still wanting verbal clarification give the club plate registrar a call and he can help you get the answers you need.

It's all good and easy peasy. I have two cars on club plates and have no issues getting them sorted each year. :wink:

Thanks Aaron.

I do attend as many MCCNSW events as possible, but it isn't always possible to make three. It is very good that the MITG runs count.

As I said earlier, MCCNSW do a great job.

Don't forget the Gerringong Street parade Ryan, that was on their calendar too..

I was talking to the plate registrar at the Christmas Picnic, because I thought I'd have to change lots of things on my car to get it onto the historic plates. He didn't have any issues with my car at all. He is a lot more relaxed than the last inspector... If you look at the MCCNSW link you'll see a mini in matte black with green stripes, no chrome on the front either (belongs to someone on here?), so they aren't worried about the right nuts and part no.s on everything like they might have been in the past
