A monster. The biggest ship the RAN has ever owned. Exciting days ahead...and there's a second that was delivered today to Williamstown for final fit out.

In comparison, the top deck of a Frigate would not reach the bottom of the dock cranes in the photo above

Ask Diesel26 about it! He's all over it most days!

Dry for the most part, but will be flooded by ballasting aft while still underway. The little landing craft will float off. The rear two can be loaded by vehicles/tanks/APCs driving over the front two.

Underneath is two 11 megawatt propellers

No rod holders, no bait table, and no shade on the rear deck.

Why all the excitement?

I see what you did there Sarah (Two Dads) Hanson-Young!

Big ships like to go fishing in water 500 meters and greater deep, and when they do they jag a tiger shark which wrecks the fishing gear anyway....

The little landing craft however offer opportunities for inshore fishing...
