So, getting back re Kiwi Bernard's post further up, for plebs like us that can't get these unobtainium ones, are Yella Terra A series rockers any good?
ie. better than the alleged Chinese? crap the Poms have been shipping lately?

Hi Kevin,
long time back i was after a set of 1.5 rockers, i was checking the US made Harland Sharp and i seem to recall they had good reputation. Only the rockers were sold without posts/shaft but they were not expensive comparing with the prices in UK... this was a few years back anyway , i ended up with DrMiniToyo ones ;-).
Maybe these Harland Sharp are sold over there too,

Cheers
Luis

Hi

I emailed the YellaTerra people no responce..

So I made some Toyo Rockers as per Kevs specs.

Rockers are a pretty basic design from an engineering perspective, any good eng company with a CNC Mill should be able to make them up.

The major cost with these sorts of things is the set up cost for the cad drawing stuff.
once this is done it is load the machine and hit the button.

The question I would like to pose is roller tip best for all applications such as road use with high mileage.

You will also find if these where mass produced there would be a whole lot of legal issues to attend too especially in AUS hence race use only is used as a disclaimer in a lot of instances

nice rockers non the less

Here are some pics of my set-up. This is a 1018 so they are 1.3:1.

I had 1.5:1 rockers on it and they kept breaking retainers...so I promptly removed them

AFAIK the Minispares ones are OK but a few years back I saw a set of 1.5 Minis**** ones that had flats on the rollers in 10,000km.
Once this happens, they give more side thrust on the valves than ordinary rockers.
I've also seen roller pins come out, can't remember which brand though.

I still have MSC forged 1.5s in my 1360. Done over 50,000miles now and not loose on the shaft or the pads worn yet.

I got talking with my engineer buddy recently and he has modifyed my roller rocker sets for me, making up spacers for the rockers & he milled the posts down a little for extra clearence. I have purchased a few extra sets to use im my own motors but I will sell a set or two if anyones interested.

We had a set of Mini Sxxxx 1.5 roller tip rockers. Case hardening on the rollers went away and one roller pin was ovalling out the rocker arm. UK supplier offered replacement pieces. NOPE, did business elsewhere.

Now run Swiftune roller tips and use Swiftune silicon/bronze guides for both intake and exhaust. Iron guides in KC head wore out quickly on exhaust side with hi-lift rockers.

re the Toyota Corolla rockers I converted, lillee has just pulled the set off his 1330 (as he's replaced them with 1.3 Minis**** rollers) and I inspected them.
After ~8000 miles, the rockers are fine, HD shaft and bushes not worn, they have now been sold to a member in Vic for his stroker.

Please note that my pics in this thread will disappear soon as I am changing ISP from Exetel to Bigpond cable.
When I find somewhere to re-host them all, I will edit the pic links.

Asked these guys about the offset bushes to go into a set of S forged rockers.
http://www.jonspeedracing.co.uk/index.p ... &cID=13895
Reply was "Hi, These are approx 1.43:1 ratio when fitted."

Has anyone used these and are they quoting correct ratio increases?

I used them many years ago, but never measured the lift ratio.

Does one need to ream the bushes when they are pressed in to fit the rocker shaft like stock bushes?
